We were a large family group and rented 4 cabins. I loved the place. They have nightly entertainment for children and adults. My only problem is that the mattresses in the cabins didn't let me concentrate on sleeping. They are very uncomfortable. I think they could improve them. Apart from that we had a good time, it's a great time, you make your own atmosphere
My family and I always came here during the summer when I was younger. I was looking for a nice little birthday weekend getaway and thought about getting a cabin here. The cabins are very nice and cozy. Everything worked like it should, and we didn't have any issues. We had a very nice view of the lake from our porch. All of the staff that we encountered were very nice and helpful. The cabins do not have heat, but they do offer space heaters, which was very helpful for the chilly nights. I can't wait to come back here again, hopefully for longer than just a long weekend.
Love Lake Raystown resort! We go every year. The campground is really nice and spacious. I wish there were some walking/hiking trails on the property. There is a nearby state park with hiking trails a few minutes drive away. The cottages are new and beautiful. The cabins are ok if you want to rough it, I prefer the comfort of a real bed and soft furniture. The lake and mountains are beautiful, it's so peaceful! The chipmunks will eat out of your hand.
We booked this place hoping for a simple, budget-friendly getaway with our dog. What we got felt more like an overpriced shed than anything close to a relaxing escape. The cabin itself isn't terrible. It has AC, a bathroom, and a small kitchenette. But for the price, which is close to what you'd pay for a budget Disney resort, it’s just not worth it. You’re basically paying premium rates for a glorified shack. The microwave was dirty, and the kitchen supplies were heavily worn. There were no pillows, sheets, or even a bath mat. The floor in the bathroom was borderline moldy. For this price, you could stay in a decent hotel. We mainly chose this spot because it was advertised as pet-friendly. Our dog has anxiety around new people, so we thought this would give him space to relax. Instead, the cabins are packed tightly together. Every few seconds, he was triggered by nearby activity. I tried tying him to a tree so he wouldn’t wander or bother other guests, but security said that wasn’t allowed. Their solution was tying him to the picnic table, which only made things worse. He kept getting tangled and more upset. The view was another letdown. About half of what we saw from our spot was a parking lot. If I squinted, I could barely make out the lake, which didn’t add much to the "nature experience." They advertise this as a way to connect with nature, but it felt more like being in someone’s backyard next to a lot full of boat trailers. Bottom line: this place is not pet-friendly, and it’s definitely not priced fairly for what you get. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway or a place to bring your dog, I’d look elsewhere. This wasn’t it for us.
We love Raystown Lake and this was our first time staying here due to Seven Points Campground being shut down. Sits nicely near "point" 21 on the lake. Great staff at reception and maintenance. Nice size drives for maneuvering trailers and large RV's. Nice amenities but we came for the lake so did not experience the amenities. Shower spaces need closer hooks by the shower for belongings. Trading post has some limited supplies and ice 👍🏻 Due to some of the camping being on the downside of the mountain top there is much water that drains/sits on many campsites. For the $$ per site, I think this should be addressed with elevated sites like the premium ones offered by the waterfront. Pretty view from our site. #45 🙂
