What are people saying (AI review summary)? The Fond du Lac Y receives largely positive reviews, highlighted by its friendly and responsive staff, clean and well-maintained facilities, and a wide array of equipment suitable for various fitness needs. Memberships are generally seen as good value, particularly for local residents and those under 30, offering access to an excellent pool, hot tub, numerous group classes, and an option for 24-hour access. However, common criticisms include the high cost of day passes, occasional overcrowding during peak hours (though an expansion is planned), scorching hot water in family restroom sinks, and issues with unsupervised, disruptive children in certain areas, particularly the basketball court, which can hinder workouts.

I came Fond du Lac from out of state to visit with family and stopped by the Y. We are members at our local Y, and the front desk staff at the FDL location were very friendly helpful with check-in using the nationwide membership system. The facility is really new and clean. We used the wellness area and never had to wait for anything. Machines were clean and in good condition. Overall it was a great experience!
If they would be considerate of family's with little ones washing their hands in the family restroom sink. Those water temps are way above normal for anyone to be washing their hands with scorching hot water, other then this is a nice place to come with the family and enjoy many different activities and the water area is what drew me the most.
TLDR: Great gym for a reasonable price. This is the best all around health club in the area. Staff is friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand. Management is responsive and quick to resolve issues. Memberships include unlimited group classes and access to the entire facility. Personal training is available, but I'm not sure if that costs extra or not. The pool and hot tub are nice, they have multiple group exercise class rooms and personal trainer led boot camps. Locker rooms are clean with first come first serve and rental lockers available. 24 hour access is available at an additional cost (well worth it IMO if you work nights). The gyms has everything you'll need unless your a legitimate strength athlete. Three adjustable power racks, three flat benches, one incline, multiple adjustable benches and two sets of dumbbells going from 5 lbs to 100 lbs, and single sets going to 120 lbs. Hip thrust machine, hack squat, leg press, smith machine, plus lots of hammer strength and life fitness cable machines to include adjustable cables. Lat pull down, plenty of pull up bars, seated row etc... They have some specialty bars as well to include EZ-bars, safety squat bar, hex bar, and a cambered barbell. 10/10 would recommend this gym. Only down sides that I have encountered: The gym can be a little crowded during the day/peak hours. BUT I have been told by staff that they are going to be doing a pretty large expansion to the fitness center (including putting in an indoor track) starting within the next year. So that may fix this issue. Also, some of the cable machine have some wear and tear on them. But if you let maintenance know, they tend to fix it by the next day or as soon as parts come in.
They charge $15 for a day pass which is too much. 8-10 dollars is more in the ballpark Will update after visit Still a little expensive but a good gym. Equipment placement was a little tight in some areas. The steam room was great wish it stayed open longer then 2 pm (Edit: they have expanded the hours) Update: I have relocated to the area and the monthly price is much better. I actually love this Y. Probably my 3rd favorite gym in all my travels and the best pool! Staff is friendly and the place feels well cleaned and taken care of. Great price if you are under 30
I come a few times a week be cause my 11 year old daughter has to get in 3 hours of practice a week for her travel basketball team in summer. We NEVER get a good workout in the gym. Unsupervised kids. No parents to be seen and they're so disrespectful I absolutely hate it. Foul language and jumping from hoop to hoop even if they have the whole gym to shoot around in.i absolutely hate it and now that it's summer we will be practicing outside and 8m trying to get the key to her school gym.
