Public swimming spot with multiple pools and a splash pad, as well as a concession.
Specific, consistently published pool temperatures for the Athens City Pool are not readily available, as it is an unheated outdoor public pool. Its temperature naturally fluctuates with ambient air and environmental conditions during its operational summer season.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this pool are mixed. Many visitors report a fun experience, highlighting the slides, multiple pools, and a splash pad, appreciating the new facilities and strict lifeguards for safety. However, a significant number of negative experiences revolve around the strict and sometimes inconsistently applied rules, particularly regarding swim tests that can separate families and height requirements for slides that may differ from other parks. Some visitors also reported perceived unfair or discriminatory treatment by lifeguards. Minor suggestions included more food options, additional chairs, and better lawn maintenance.

Traveled to Athens pool from Columbus to visit with family. My 7 year old has been jumping off diving boards and swimming since she was 5. Lifeguard at the pool made her do the swim test and she swam the whole lap lane which is excessive since the diving board and ladder isn’t even far from each other. Anyways he let her swim the whole thing then failed her because she switched up her swimming smh after that he droned in on her and was yelling at her for everything. There were multiple kids jumping in the deeper water from the side and he found the need to come all the way over to tell me which I was sitting right on the edge of the pool that she needs to be in arm length definitely felt like my child was being racially profiled. Very disappointing for my home town.
We have a fun time here when we go. Kids love the slides. It’s nice to have several different pools for everyone to swim and a splash pad. Only thing I wish is that they had a little more food options at the concession.
This is our first and last visit. We came so my daughter could play on water slides, she played on similar ones at a water park on vacation and loved them. But once we arrived they said she wasn't tall enough, 48in, which were the same requirements for the other park. She was tall enough there but not here. Then to make matters worse she was only allowed in little pool, not allowed in big pool with me unless she pass swim test, she is 6 and this is her first summer learning to swim without assistance. She is not confident enough to try a swim test. So I drove 30 minutes to pay to get in a pool neither of us could enjoy. Won't make this mistake again. I'll drive over an hour to the Marietta pool that doesn't separate families in different pools.
Really nice place, with friendly atmosphere and strict lifeguards to help prevent horseplay. Everything is new because it opened brand new last year (2018). Handicapped intended pre-showers in the changing room, have adjustable shower heads. Remember to bring your own lock for the personal lockers. And don't forget to bring your polarized sunglasses on sunny days. People in the "Silver Sneakers" fitness program get in for free. Pool stays open as long as there's no thunder and lightning.
Lots Of Fun, They Could Use Some More Chairs And To Cut The Grass A Bit Shorter But Overall Was A Blast. Will Go Back Again.
