About

Lake Snowden Campground, located at 5900 US-50, Albany, OH 45710, USA, is a popular outdoor recreation area offering various camping options (tent, RV, primitive, electric sites). It provides access to Lake Snowden for fishing, boating (kayak/canoe rentals available), and has a designated swimming beach. The campground also features hiking trails and hosts special events.

Lake Snowden Campground does not feature traditional swimming pools. Swimming is available at a designated beach area on Lake Snowden itself, therefore, specific pool temperatures are not applicable. The lake water temperature naturally varies with the season.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this campground and lake area are mixed, with strong positives for its natural beauty and the popular annual pawpaw festival, but significant negatives regarding facility maintenance and staffing. Many praise the beautiful lake, small beach, and opportunities for paddling, as well as the unique and fun pawpaw festival which offers various themed foods. Campsites are generally considered good by some, and the setting is described as beautiful. However, a prominent recent theme highlights a decline in quality, particularly concerning unsanitary shower houses (mold, spiders, lack of toilet paper), closed park bathrooms replaced by uncleaned portable toilets, and a severe lack of adequate staff. Issues included unstaffed offices, no-shows for campsite assistance, missing basic campsite amenities (tables, fire rings, pads), and unhelpful rules regarding water access. There is also a complaint about a parking fee for local residents. While some have enjoyed the park for years, recent experiences suggest a significant drop in service and facility upkeep.

Wonderful local campground next to a lake. This weekend was the annual pawpaw festival in honor of one of America's native fruits the pawpaw. It tastes a bit like a cross between a mango and a banana. The festival has many foods made with pawpaw including ice cream and even beer.

Gone to every pawpaw fest for the last 5 years or so, we have the best time. Beautiful setting, great campsites. The shower house could be better, often full of spiders and such, but not terrible for a campground, tho I've seen better. The lake is great, with a small beach and plenty of room to paddle around

Nice, well maintained lake, waterpark, and campground. This isn't a state park. It is open to the public but the waterpark has an admission fee.Check the website for hours and prices. It also has playground equipment, basketball court, shelter houses, restrooms and trails.I'm not sure if these amenities are for those staying at the campground only or not. Again call ahead or check out the website.

County resident here who just wanted to put her toes in the water for a couple of minutes today, and walk along the beach. The park demands a $3 parking fee. Bwahahahaha, as if!!!! I pay enough property taxes here I'm not paying like a damned tourist for a 10 minute walk along the lake. Good bye Lake Snowden. Never again. The practically dead Hocking College needs money BAD but they aren't getting any from me.

Reserved campsite for 4 nights. Arrived to check in and office was closed. No staff available except 2 persons at the lake pay swimming area. Went there to ask how we could contact someone about our camp area. We had no table, no fire ring and no camper pad area. Water was across the street and we were advised we could not run water hose across the road to fill up tank. Someone was supposed to meet us at our site at 3pm, no one showed up. We had to find our own table and fire ring. Also the shower house is unsanitary, reeking of mold, no toilet paper. All bathrooms throughout the entire park has been shut down and ports jons set in front of or beside. Those have not been cleaned for some time and are in need of servicing. This campground could be an absolute wonderful place if it had the proper staff and updated facilities. There needs to be staff that knows what is going on. Office needs to be staffed and messages need to be returned if there isn’t anyone in office during office hours. Very disappointed in what has changed since our first stay just 3 short years ago! We will not be back!
