Facility with a pool, as well as tennis, racquetball, basketball, and volleyball courts, and a weight room.
Specific pool temperatures for the Cain Center YMCA are not readily available online. However, YMCA aquatic facilities generally maintain their lap and recreational pools at a comfortable temperature, typically ranging from 80-84°F (27-29°C). If a dedicated warm water or therapy pool is available, it would likely be maintained at a higher temperature, usually between 88-92°F (31-33°C).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews paint a mixed but largely negative picture of the facility. A major point of contention is the consistently poor experience with front desk staff, who are frequently described as rude, dismissive, uninformed, and providing conflicting information, leading to check-in delays and frustration, particularly for pre-paid events. Many users also express significant dissatisfaction with the facility's limited availability, citing frequent closures, restricted swimming hours (often prioritizing private lessons over community access), and the unavailability of areas like the gym due to other events or renovations. This leads to concerns about the value of memberships given the restricted access. On the positive side, some reviews acknowledge the facility's cleanliness, well-maintained equipment, and its potential for various sports, fitness activities, and events, with staff generally being friendly, though exceptions were noted.

Just dropped my girls off for a get together there that had previously been paid for by the mother of the child having the event. We were treated like a complete inconvenience by all people at the front desk. They were rude and dismissive especially when she tried to charge me for day passes and the event had already been paid for. Then when I tried to text the lady who had left our names at the desk to be let in now all the sudden I didn’t need to purchase a day pass. She then checked us in but was very rude about it. Then just stood there for a while talking to coworkers and goes “that’s it” Like I was supposed to know she was done. I was considering a membership for the summer since we just moved here but will find somewhere else to take my kids. You should too. This is not it. This was at 6pm 5/16/25.
I came here with a friend whose daughter was having a small group of kids for a swim party. She had called and asked all questions well in advance. No one knows what the heck is going on at this front desk, even the most BASIC questions, they don't know. Each person has a different answer. They lost an hour of party time because they took so long to get everyone checked in and then proceeded to say the pool actually closed 30 minutes earlier than she's been told. After seeing the chaos I could never recommend this place for anything.
Looks nice. But so limited on hours you can take your kids/friends swimming. A joke. Expensive. More about private swim sessions and lessons. Not a Community Pool. Athen's needs to take control of this facility from YMCA. Make it the towns, community's pool.
Great place to visit. They've got just about anything you need to keep in shape or practice sports. From weddings to auctions and everything in between. Family friendly and even my puppy likes coming here.
The YMCA closes all the time. It makes me wonder why I pay full price for a place that closes so much. If it’s not closed then the pool is undergoing renovations or there are games going on in the gym so you can’t play basketball. The only thing here usually always available when the facility is open is the weight room. For the most part the staff is friendly but there are some that make you question whether they actually want to be there. It’s always clean and there are rarely equipment problems. This facilities main problem is availability. If I pay for a membership I expect it to be open and available. Unfortunately, I think this is the best gym in Athens.
