What are people saying (AI review summary)? The JCC Margate generally receives high praise for its friendly, welcoming, and expert staff, particularly in swimming lessons, where instructors are noted for their skill and patience, and management (like Mike) for accommodating schedules. Members appreciate the strong sense of community, inclusivity, and diverse programs, including a well-equipped gym, various fitness classes (e.g., Veronica’s Step and Sculpt), aquatics, and social events for all ages. However, some significant criticisms include issues with organization, outdated equipment, and a frequently non-functional website for online sign-ups. There are also concerns about the slow pace of repairs for broken gym equipment, though the facilities are generally clean. Despite some operational drawbacks, many members express long-term satisfaction and a strong sense of belonging.

I can't say enough excellent things about the JCC Margate! My experience with their swimming lessons has been absolutely fantastic. The entire staff is incredibly friendly, always greeting everyone with a smile and making us feel welcome from the moment we walk in. The swimming instructors are skilled, patient, and truly invested in helping each student progress at their own pace. My both children have gained so much confidence in the water thanks to their expert guidance. I also want to give a special shoutout to Mike, the manager, and the team for being so accommodating with our schedule. They’ve gone above and beyond to make sure we could find lesson times that fit into our busy lives, which has made all the difference. If you're looking for a place where your child can learn to swim in a positive, supportive environment, JCC Margate is the perfect choice. We couldn't be happier with our experience!
Very unorganized. Very old equipment. Can’t sign up online for classes because their website never works.
I have been a member of the JCC off-and-on for years, and I will continue to be a member for a long time. The staff are all friendly, the facilities are always clean, and there are a great group of people that are members. From the gym to the pool, basketball courts, fitness classes, and social events, the JCC offers a ton of benefit for your membership dollars. My main use of the JCC is the gym, where you will find a ton of cardio equipment, a bunch of weight machines, and a good amount of free weights. At peak times you may have to wait for a weight machine or bench, but it is not usually an issue. Saturday mornings during the summer seem to be the worst time for this, but the rest of the time throughout the year you are good to go. The only knock I would give the gym is that when a piece of equipment breaks, it does take too long to fix. I don't know who they contract with to fix the equipment, but they are not timely in my opinion. Recently the backrest on the leg extension machine had a bolt that broke. This could have been removed with pliers, taken to Colmar to find a replacement, and fixed within the hour. It is about four weeks later, and it is still waiting for someone to replace a single bolt. That gets to be very frustrating. All-in-all, the JCC is a great place, and you will be happy to become a member.
JCC group fitness classes have provided me with not only great workouts but a consistent morning routine. If you are looking for the ultimate workout, you have to try Veronica’s Step and Sculpt class on Saturday mornings! 🏋️♀️
When I joined the Margate Jewish Community Center (JCC), my main focus was on aquatics where I could enjoy an early morning swim. I soon learned that the JCC was so much more than a place to enjoy an array of programs, with state-of-the-art gym equipment, and specialized programs for people of all ages. In addition to these benefits, the JCC also offers a sense of community and belonging that is akin to a supportive vibrant family. Displayed outside is a sign that carries a profound message: “This Is Where You Belong” It’s simple, but it captures what I feel and the essence of the JCC’s mission based on Jewish tradition and values, to offer a sense of belonging, inclusivity, welcoming all in the community to participate in these wonderful programs. The JCC is a special place where people connect, share ideas, and make great lasting friendships. From serving children and young adults with educational and sports programs to senior wellness classes, the JCC has a remarkable staff of expert trainers and instructors offering the finest techniques in healthy physical activity. Whether it is aerobics, yoga, cycling, basketball, or aquatics and many great social programs and events, the JCC offers us the best experience and it is where I belong.
