The staff was very friendly and helpful and that's about the only good thing that I can say about this place. We had the feeling that there was some sketchy stuff going on there. The door to our room had definitely been broken into at some point before our stay. Door jam was all jacked-up and the security chain was messed up too. Basically had no TV due to some dispute they are having with the cable company. Parking lot was full of holes. Outside of the building was dirty. No wonder there are no pics of the outside on the website. No way that I'd stay there again.
We came into town on what we thought would be a wonderful weekend considering our son is getting MARRIED this weekend. We chose the Katahdin Inn and suites for our lodging for the four nights we are in town. We drove four hours to arrive to a hotel parking lot full of individuals partying with loud music in the parking lot, cat calling me as I got out of the vehicle and drinking directly in front of the front door. Upon entering the building, we noticed the entire entryway was full of construction materials, where someone could easily be hurt. The carpets were not secured and very dangerous for someone who is disabled. When booking the room we were under the impression there were a pool and hot tub, cable, and Wi-Fi available as amenities based on the site’s advertisement as well as the marquee sign outside on the road. At check-in, we were told the pool is not available, the hot tub was drained, and due to them not paying a $500 bill, there would be no Internet or a cable. As we approach our room, we were overwhelmed with a smell of feces throughout the entire hallway. Millinocket is a very small town, so there were no other hotel options to book on such short notice at the hour that we checked in so we had no choice but to stay in this absolutely inhabitable hotel for the night. Due to the wedding, we have our grandchildren overnight and cannot bring them to this hotel in this condition so we were forced to book a second hotel for the remainder of our stay. Luckily the kind lady at another local hotel was able to provide us with a room and was very kind with the pricing. When I called the manager line to discuss these issues with them, the manager told me that it is not their problem and that I would need to dispute the charges on my card rather than fixing the issue and helping us. When I mentioned all of the amenities that were not available as well as the condition of the physical building, the manager who was not any older than 21 told me that their website clearly outlines there is no hot tub and did not acknowledge any of the 20 things wrong with the hotel. I explained to him that this is a very inconvenient situation considering our son is getting married this weekend and there is already a lot of stress happening and he simply said “dispute it with your credit card company.” To say, we are extremely disappointed and inconvenienced with our stay at the Katahdin Inn and suites is an understatement. This hotel should be shut down for the condition due to multiple reasons. Do not recommend booking or staying at this hotel ever.
There was nothing around so this was only selection traveling for work. Hotel under construction, looks like has potential but before renovate the lobby fix the rooms. Barely any outlets, room is from the 1800’s old hair ties lying around, dirty floors, bed looks ok but god knows if it’s ever been clean. This may be only hotel around but until they update there rooms never again I’ll drive 2hrs further away in the snow to seek better then this. Rate 1.5/5 stars only because the employee is nice.
We traveled from out of the area and didn’t get to our room until almost 9 o’clock. In the morning, we were exhausted and asked if we could check out a little bit later and they were extremely accommodating. Everyone that we had contact with was extremely polite, professional, and accommodating. We really enjoyed our brief stay and plan on returning.
The bed was comfortable and the person that checked us in was great. Unfortunately, the bathroom was not very clean. There were what appeared to be rodent droppings along the wall behind the toilet and we ran out of toilet paper. There was barely any on the roll and there were no other rolls in the bathroom. It also was not pleasant to walk into the lobby and have the pool right there..the chlorine smell was too much.
