Spacious, clean facility featuring a pool, fitness machinery and courts.
The aquatic center at the New Balance Student Recreation Center typically maintains its lap pool at a comfortable temperature between 79-81 degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, a warmer leisure pool or spa is generally kept around 102-104 degrees Fahrenheit for relaxation and therapeutic use.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the facility are mixed, but predominantly negative. Positive aspects mentioned include generally good pool and sauna temperatures (though this is contradicted by other reviews), a decent day pass price, free day lockers, warm showers, device charging outlets, and free Wi-Fi, as well as a good vibe for some regulars. However, numerous complaints highlight a decline in the facility's quality and services. Key issues include inconsistent and often cold pool and hot tub temperatures, with staff unwilling to adjust them or activate features like the whirlpool due to unsupervised children. Cleanliness is a concern, and the sauna schedule is inconsistent. Recent regulations, such as a strict dress code for the sauna and a ban on squatting in socks, have frustrated users. Services have reportedly declined, with no towel service, no lock borrowing for day lockers (which are often taken), and the elimination of guest passes. The facility is often crowded, equipment space is too small, and there are frequent issues with screaming or unsupervised children in the pool area, sometimes leading to closures. Staff are criticized for being lazy, unhelpful (e.g., regarding parking information), and for allowing activities like TikTok recording that contribute to overcrowding.

Nice pool temperature and sauna. *Update (20 Dec 2023)* Has power right now, with decent day pass price, a few free day lockers, warm showers, outlets in the bathrooms for hair dryers & such, & outlets in a couple other places that can charge devices, and free wifi.
I love this place. I go here everyday and it’s a great vibe but the one problem I have is not being allowed to squat with just your socks. I have had injuries in the past caused by squatting in shoes. It’s really frustrating for people who come here everyday and know what they’re doing. That’s really the only complaint.
The pool was cold, and the hot tub was the same temperature. When we asked if they could turn it up they said NO because too many kids kept climbing in and out of it. They didn’t want to tell them they couldn’t wrestle in the hot tub! The whirl pool wasn’t turned on and again was told because little kids that couldn’t swim well kept going in without parents so they weren’t turning it on. We payed $12 each for 5 of us for day passes and ended up leaving after half an hour! Waste of time and money!
Under cleaned and the schedule for the sauna is as inconsistent Edit: 2025 Now the pool area has even more regulations can’t go in the sauna if you’re not barely naked also no shoes allowed. Lazy staff make
Facility has gone downhill. Zero towel service since COVID, can't borrow locks for day lockers (which are frequently all taken). No guest passes anymore.. used to get 2 per semester. Pool always seems to be full of screaming children or closed for no reason. No fans in the cardio area, but plenty of TVs for the boomers. They let Tik Tokers setup up cameras and record videos. The equipment space is too small for how crowded it gets. Front desk workers are useless. They couldn't even tell me where I'm allowed to park with the pass they gave me.
