About

The Western Greenbrier Swimming Pool, located at 201 Kanawha Ave, Rainelle, WV 25962, USA, is a public outdoor swimming facility serving the local community. It is known as a popular seasonal destination for families, offering a clean and well-maintained environment for recreational swimming and relaxation during the summer months.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The pool is generally described as a clean, nice, and fun family-friendly facility, despite its unassuming appearance from the road. It offers a variety of amenities including a twisty waterslide, diving board, and a separate kiddie pool, with depths ranging from 3ft to 10ft. Reviewers consistently praise the friendly and kind staff. The bathrooms are clean and well-equipped with lockers, showers, toilets, tables, umbrellas, and lounge chairs. Its convenient location near fast-food options like DQ and McDonald's is highlighted. However, a significant point of contention is the policy of closing the pool every 45 minutes for a 15-minute break (sometimes slightly longer), which can be disruptive for visitors and especially for children. These breaks are reportedly for lifeguard alertness or adults-only swim. It is advised to check the official website for operational status due to potential weather or personnel issues.

Pool is clean and nice. However, they close the pool every 45 minutes for 15 minutes. They do not efficiently open back up at 15 minutes either. It might be 17, 18 minutes. We were visiting from out of town. Came at 3:40. Kids jumped in only to have to get out 5 minutes later. Then again at 4:45, they had to get out. They closed at 5:45 for their last "break". (The "breaks" are for keeping the lifeguards alert. Every pool I've ever worked at rotates lifeguards through these "breaks" or closes a section of the pool - which accomplishes the same thing. Rather than making the kids sit there with nothing to do for 15 minutes every hour.)

A midsized pool with a water slide. Never too crowded and within a minute of McDonald's & DQ in the middle of town. As an added plus the pool is adjacent to the town hall where the city police are located. Be sure to check the rainelle pool website (this website is not the official site to ensure the pool is open due to weather and occasional personnel issues etc)

Very nice pool, clean and very friendly staff. Our family really enjoyed our time there, despite the periodic rain and quick thunderstorm.

From the road, or driving by it doesn't look like much, but once you enter your mood will change completely. Everyone was kind and smiling all of the kids got along and were playing sharks with each other. There is a shallow end at 3ft that goes all the way to 10ft. There is a kiddie pool just about a foot deep for todlers/babies to also enjoy the pool with their Mother/Father/Guardians. There is also a long twisty waterside, diving board, and little shack where you can buy ice cream and other snacks. The pool is conveniently about 50ft from a DQ which is amazing. It's cool to be able to walk across the parking lot at break time to get DQ and eat. 15 min is plenty of time to walk across the street to a McDonalds and get your food there. The bathrooms are clean and there are lockers, showers, toilets, tables, umbrellas, and lounging/tanning chairs next to the pool, and mirrors. Also, about every 45 min all kids must get out and adults have the pool to themselves for about 15 min(the kids can still sit in the steps and splash their feet in the cool water). The staff at the pool are really kind, a group of younger kids were playing tag in the pool and only two kids had goggles so everybody had to take turns but the chlorine was burning their eyes so a kind lady brought about 10-15 pairs of goggles for the children to use. It is an amazing place to hang out and have fun!🙂
