The Spring Mill State Park Swimming Pool, located in Spring Mill Village, IN, is an outdoor recreational facility within Spring Mill State Park. Open seasonally, typically from Memorial Day to Labor Day, it offers a public swimming experience for park visitors, complete with amenities such as lifeguards and bathhouse facilities. It serves as a popular spot for cooling off and enjoying water activities during the warmer months.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The pool receives mixed reviews. It is generally praised for its cleanliness, beautiful setting, and the friendly, helpful staff, particularly for adults, teens, and older children who enjoy the decent size, slide, and diving boards. However, families with young children (under 6) often find it challenging due to a very limited shallow end in the main pool and a lack of interactive features or permitted toys in the kiddie pool. Significant criticisms include frequent and lengthy lifeguard breaks, which some reviewers felt were excessive and left swimmers exposed to a notable bee and horsefly infestation causing stings. Issues with strict access to the deep diving area and the cost structure (charging non-swimmers) were also points of contention. The pool operates seasonally during the summer.

The life guards are really really nice and good at what they are doing. I especially appreciate the older gentleman helping everyone get properly fitted for the life jackets they provide. The facility is clean, and has a limited concession stand. The pool is a decent size. For adults and teens, I'd say an amazing set up. We have three kids, 12, 6 and 2.5. 6yr old is just getting used to water in his face and I think thats relevant to our personal experience. We also do not regularly camp. For families with smaller kids, say 6 and under, would be an absolute skip for me. There is almost no shallow end in the main pool, it quickly moves from 3ft to 4ft and then deeper. The ramp into the pool is a nice touch, but its narrow and a lot of the kids are playing on it. That overall shallow section is very small compared to the rest of the pool that is 5ft plus. The one slide they have, again for older kids and teens was amazing. But there's nothing "interactive" for small kids. They do have a kiddie pool that was (I think) 2 ft and a decent size. But, they say one of the rules is you cannot bring toys. Well. There's nothing for the smaller kids to interact with in that pool at all. Then you do have some families brining toys in because it's a norm anywhere you go. But if you read the sign, took the toys back, then other kids have them... that's a meltdown. Maybe a minor gripe but we're a family of three so that was overwhelming for me personally. With 3 kids at various ages and swimming abilites it was a rough first hour. In the end, its a pool and they had fun. I think its just that parent perspective that felt like it was a really bad set up.

Would give a zero if possible. We went with our 4 kids, it costed 25 total to get in the park and my wife and I and 4 kids to swim. $3 per person even if you don't swim. The lifeguards take a 10 minute break to swim themselves at the top of every hour which turns into 15 minute breaks by the time they blow the whistle to let people back in the pool. Also at 2 and 4 they take a 20 minute break which of course is 25. The only part of the pool deeper than 5 feet is a HUGE side to the pool thats 12.5 ft deep with 2 diving boards that an old Joe Biden looking lifeguard won't allow anyone in to even free float because it is for divers only, when there's is no adults that dove, it was literally all younger kids cannonballing and jumping off. Even worse they have a bee and horse fly infestation and kids were being stung left and right with the extensive amount of breaks the lifeguards take and strand the PAYING SWIMMERS to fend off all of the horsefly's. We arrived at 250pm, kids got in at 255, lifeguard break at 3, back in at 315, longer lifeguard break at 4, back in at 425 left at 5 at the next lifeguard break. They weren't short staffed neither, there were 4 females and Joe Biden with 4 lifeguard towers. They could easily rotate and not have so many breaks. Normal working class gets a 15 minute break after 2 to 2.5 hours. So if your young and looking for a job where you get more breaks than you work. This is it.
