The Alabama Outdoor Pool Complex, located at 401 Peter Bryce Blvd, Tuscaloosa, AL, is a comprehensive outdoor aquatic facility managed by the University of Alabama's Recreation Services. It features a 50-meter lap pool, a zero-entry leisure pool, a water slide, a vortex pool, and a hot tub, offering diverse options for lap swimming, recreation, and relaxation.
The lap pool's temperature is typically maintained between 78-80 degrees Fahrenheit (25.5-26.5°C). The leisure pool is generally kept warmer, between 80-82 degrees Fahrenheit (26.5-27.7°C), while the hot tub maintains a temperature of 102-104 degrees Fahrenheit (38.8-40°C).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Overall, the reviews indicate a highly positive experience for families and couples, praising the facility's relaxed atmosphere, ample amenities like a lazy river, water slide, and dedicated pool for young children. Guests appreciate the free inner tubes and flotation vests, as well as the strong emphasis on safety with numerous lifeguards and attentive staff. The policy for kids' hydration breaks (10 minutes every hour) is also noted positively. The place is consistently described as clean and safe, with many recommending it and expressing intentions to return or purchase annual passes. However, there are a few areas for improvement: some suggest a larger space and more activities for younger kids. A more significant concern is the conflicting information regarding outside food and drink policies (website vs. on-site signage) and an instance where the refreshment stand ran out of water for sale on a busy day, leading to inconvenience for guests.

Great place for a family or a couple. Small pool area accompanied by a free flowing lazy river, under 6 pool as well. Free inner tubes, free floatation vests for kids, snack bar, and a fast/fun water slide. Today was my first visit, and I'm buying an annual pass tomorrow. Great & relaxed atmosphere with ambient background music. Four lifeguards on duty around the pool plus another at the top of the slide.
Nice! But should add a bigger space for the Lil kids and more things for the kids to do! But a overall nice place. My 3 year old son loved it! And I love that there are several of life guards on duty and that there's a young lady walking around at all times making sure things are okay and going well!
The pool was amazing, as is their policy for making all kids get out of the water for 10 minutes every hour to drink water and rest. However the website says no outside food or water and that they have a refreshments stand. When you arrive, there's a sign saying plastic and metal bottles of water are allowed, not helpful to know AFTER you arrive. We went memorial day and they had no water for sale at the refreshments stand. So we paid full price for sno cones without syrup just to have ice water to drink. Will be back, but better prepared next time.
Clean, safe and nice place to share with your family
Due to weather conditions we had to evacuate to wait out the storm. When the door reopened my party of 6 were the only ones to re-enter! We enjoyed having it all to ourselves.😁 Definitely recommend
