What are people saying (AI review summary)? Overall, the gym is praised for its great staff and management, good facilities that are often described as clean and well-laid out, and a convenient location with early Sunday hours. Users appreciate the availability of machines and a quieter environment compared to other locations. However, significant drawbacks include rising prices, a difficult membership cancellation process, and specific complaints about the smell in the women's locker room/restroom. There's also notable frustration regarding young teenagers monopolizing machines by sitting on them while using cell phones, which blocks access for other members.

The people are great, facilities are acceptable, the mission is fantastic, but the prices keep rising. Canceling your membership is quite a process that involves disputing charges with your bank. Ask me how I know.
I use this YMCA and the Hoover one. I enjoy that this Y is quieter and I like the layout of it more. They have all the machines I need. Minus 1 star bc the women’s locker room/restroom on the main gym floor smells terrible.
Alabaster has a great gym with all the machines I need. But, a major drawback is that a lot of young teenage people are there and tie up machines by doing 1 set of 10 and then sitting on each machine looking at their cell phone for ten or fifteen minutes blocking access. I ask a kid to let me work in while he was looking at his phone and he said I'm using it. Good quality gyms have rules about blocking machines just sitting there. I may have to join a better place because of all the people tying up half the machines all day as a cell phone hangout.
Great location for a workout, and open early on Sunday's. Great facilities and very clean.
Great Management by Kristen, the executive director. She was very helpful and kind. Also Lincoln and Alex were so helpful to me in the pool area. Great job guys! Loved the water workout with Rod.
