The Hot Springs Pool at Garden Valley, ID, commonly known as Terrace Lakes Hot Springs, offers a large, geothermally heated swimming pool perfect for family relaxation. It's a key amenity within the Terrace Lakes Resort, providing a natural and warm swimming experience in a scenic setting.
The main geothermally heated pool typically maintains temperatures between 95-100°F (35-38°C). A smaller, hotter pool or hot tub is often available, with temperatures ranging from 102-105°F (39-41°C) for a more intense soak.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? This hot spring is highly praised as "awesome" and "amazing," offering easy access from a large roadside parking area approximately an hour from Boise. Visitors navigate a short, steep descent via stairs to reach the clean hot pool, which provides beautiful views of the river. While some describe the water temperature as "perfect" or "not too hot," others find it potentially too cool. For cooling off, there's a stone-built cold pool directly by the river, alongside a small sandy beach. The scenery is noted as great, and the location is far enough from the highway to mitigate road noise. It is generally not crowded, even during summer midday visits, and offers a more secluded ambiance at night. Reviewers recommend it for both summer (advising hiking sandals for the walk) and winter (with a caution for potential slips on snowy or icy paths). The spring is described as small and dependent on water levels.

This place is awesome! It's on the road side of the river, which makes access a bit easier. There's a good size parking area at the top, which was very convenient. There's a short yet somewhat steep walk down some stairs to where the hot spring pool is. The top pool was pretty hot, but not unbearable, and it was very clean. From that pool, you have a beautiful view of the river. If you get hot, it's a short, slightly steep walk down to the river where there is a cold pool built up with stones right on the river. There's also a small sandy beach to the side if you want to set up a little picnic or just lounge. We went the day after Independence Day, so it was hot, but I imagine it would be nice in the winter. You'd just need to be careful not to slip on the way down if it's snowy. I recommend hiking sandals for the walk down in the summer. I was there around noon, and it wasn't crowded. There were families from time to time and everyone was friendly. I'll definitely be back.
Small and dependant on the water levels.
Great scenery. Very large pull out off the highway. Far enough from the highway you don't realize the road is just above you.
About an hour from Boise and perfect temperature.
Not many reviews for this amazing little hot spring. I came for my first time at night. One person was in the parking lot, drunk, couldn't find the spring. So I grabbed my booze and put on. Aswim suit and led him down to the pool. The water was the perfect temp for me, not too hot. So we sat around in it for hours until dawn. The water is clean, a nice flow, and in the dark you can't see all the houses around you. I think it's too cool for most people, as people stop and feel the water and then leave.
