Forest River Outdoor Recreation & Nature Center, also known as Forest River Park, is a public park in Salem, MA, offering a beach, playground, picnic areas, walking trails, a public swimming pool, and a nature center for various recreational activities.
The public swimming pool at Forest River Park is an unheated outdoor facility operating seasonally during the summer. Its temperature naturally varies with ambient weather conditions, and specific temperature readings are not typically published.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews paint a mixed picture of the area. The park itself is highly praised for its beauty, offering excellent spots for picnics, walks, and meditation. There are ongoing developments, with excitement for a future public swimming pool and outdoor nature center. However, the existing pool has a significant restriction: it is only accessible to Salem residents, which has caused frustration and disappointment for non-resident visitors. Additionally, a major negative experience was reported concerning parking, where a payment app failed and led to an immediate credit card fraud alert, indicating a need for more secure payment systems.

You can not use the Pool if you are not resident of Salem! We went from Boston and the people at the counter refused to let us enter the pool because we are not salem residents! I won’t recommend anyone visiting the area if you have plan to use the pool 😡
I love this place. I came here since it opened and the pool is clean, not crowded with people, and the lifeguards are extremely friendly. I’m going to come here this summer too!
I must’ve picked the wrong parking app to pay for parking because not only did it not work but I immediately received a fraud alert from my credit union. The fraudulent party was trying to charge $49.99. So be careful. And maybe Salem parking enforcement will find a more secure way to ensure receipt of payment. Otherwise, the park was 5 stars
Beautiful place to picnic, enjoy a walk, or sit on one of the many benches and meditate.
They are only just in the process of building it now, so there's not much to see. However, the drawings of the public swimming pool and the outdoor nature center look like someone I can't wait to see them completed.
