Busy gym featuring a rock-climbing wall, free weights, cardio gear and personal training.
The aquatic center at the Miller Wellness Center includes a 25-yard, 6-lane lap pool, a warm water therapy pool, and a hot tub. While specific, exact temperatures are not publicly listed online, lap pools in such facilities are typically maintained around 80-82°F (26-28°C), warm water therapy pools often range from 88-92°F (31-33°C), and hot tubs are usually set between 100-104°F (38-40°C).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? This recreational center is widely regarded as a great place for students and Brookings residents, offering a broad range of activities including individual workouts, group fitness, swimming, weightlifting, stationary biking, and rock climbing, with highly praised personal trainers and friendly staff. However, there are notable areas for improvement. Cleanliness is inconsistent, with some reporting it as very clean, while others frequently mention issues such as odor, dust, stickiness, or inconveniently long and subpar locker room cleaning that can disrupt schedules. The facility can become very busy, particularly at peak times, leading to long waits for the limited number of certain machines due to its inclusion in student tuition. Other criticisms include a perceived lack of management, an inefficient equipment layout, an inconvenient first-come, first-serve policy for racquetball courts, and a restrictive 'no open-toed shoes' rule that impacts activities like table tennis.

A wonderful place for students and other people from Brookings to go to the gym. Very clean and very friendly stuff. High recommended!
Just similar to any normal recreational compound; the manager and the managerial representative seems to be very active. So as the service in most of the times. However, the major problem is the cleanliness. In some of the times, it's smelly, less hygienic, full of dust, sticky, or too slippery. Other than the servicing custodians most of the things seem very cool!
Decent equipment, kind of under managed. Been late to class three times now, they are always cleaning up the locker room and take a minimum of half an hour. Tried to switch my gym times and still they always seem to be in there for subpar cleaning. They also have a weird way of laying out equipment as you’ll sometimes have to walk across the entire center to get to a similar machine.
Pretty busy because it’s included with every SDSU student’s tuition, and only 1 or 2 of certain machines in the whole gym. Expect to wait for specific machines at peak times. One thing to improve is letting people reserve the racquetball courts at certain times. First come first serve sucks if I’m making a trip to the gym just to play racquetball. Also the no open toed shoes rule is dumb. Like I understand that I probably shouldn’t wear flip flops while lifting but that means I can’t play table tennis??
This is a place where you can do your own workout or find just the right group fitness. You can also swim, weight lift, ride the stationary bike or rock climb! If you’re needing extra help, the personal trainers are all awesome! It’s a great place for wellness!
