USAA offered a Fit & Active membership for an incredible deal. Having been a member over a decade ago before locating to the coast. Upon returning and the pandemic closures built a functional gym at my property that has every tool needed to get tone and fit. With the offer did new research and visited the gym. Asked questions. What sold me on the membership is the spa qualities. And two pieces of equipment I do not have. Plus a few extras. The big need and desire is for a spa day weekly. The dry and wet sauna plus cold room. Jacuzzi when the parts are available. Going to Total Rejuvination is a lot of fun. It’s a spa and recovery location off of Collins Road. But I’m not able to weekly. Plus, enjoy doing what’s called “one of everything”. This takes about four hours and I’m so mellow afterwards need to take the rest of the day for chilling. I go a few times a year. Besides the spa options for a weekly hour of bliss and recovery the two options equipment wise are the pool and the stair machine. These attracted me to add these options to my routine. The pluses, the water fills station, the spinner to remove water from wet clothing, and cold room. In winter for many years, enjoy going outside as long as it’s not dangerous. Wearing minimal clothing. Like being in the cold room. With new studies of the benefit began doing cold plunges at TR last year. My preference is the cold room following the wet sauna. Starting in the dry then to the wet. Capping this phase off in the cold room is a little bit of heaven on earth. I prefer the cold room left side of the door as it is colder than the right side. Over doing a cold plunge. Where I have to keep my feet and hands out of the water due to the pain from the cold water. I’m able to complete a ten minute plunge but the cold room allows me to hit everyplace including my limbs without feeling pain. If this sounds great to you, recommend hydrating after the saunas. This also makes me a little hungry so I bring a protein drink with me in my reusable drink container. And or a snack like a banana. Top this off with a sit in the jacuzzi resets my mojo. As a veteran who needs ways to help me regroup find these options amazing and helpful. Upon reading other reviews, agree the Jacuzzi does have downtime. The gym is doing what they can to repair as parts are variable and solve the mystery of why it has a moody side. I’ve had a positive experience with any staff I’ve met or asked questions and chatted with. The gym is clean in all areas anytime I’ve visited. Including the bathroom and showers. My membership includes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Since I go once a week this is perfect for me. If you’re a veteran who needs a method of relaxing the body and mind recommend the spa options to help reset the brain and body. One perk, if you’re a woman and an introvert is the woman’s center. It hosts lots of equipment, like the stair machine, and affords a bit of privacy if you prefer not working out with the men folk or in the center of the gym community. The basic gym membership of not a fit and active is different pricing. Check with staff if they have a PT membership that doesn’t require paying for seven days. This might be available. To participate in classes may require an additional fee. If under 65 is a different fee than above this age. Check with staff to find out more about these options and what classes are available. There are drink and snack options plus a drink bar when open. Check for times if you like smoothies. Oh and you can access other gyms if you choose a fuller membership. They have an infrared sauna at one of the other locations. Plus those locations are opened more often if you need a larger time frame for your needs. For me, this gym is a perfect option for my needs. Including spa options, pool, and a PT few day a week options as one day a week is adequate, for my needs. Staff is very helpful. So bring your questions and look around. It is worth a look and see for yourself. There’s something for everyone

Love this gym. Has every piece of equipment I need, a pool, a hot tub, a sauna, a steam room, and a frost locker. They have personal trainers that actually know what they are doing if you have that kind of money. There is also a daycare, which is important to me as I have a toddler.

The kids area is basically a holding pen for kids 5 and under. They don’t offer anything engaging or physical for kids over 5. They charge “Lifetime Fitness” prices, but do offer a discount for some corporate partners with a 12 month plan, which is decent, but the equipment is old and rusty, and you have to use shared towels to wipe down the equipment instead of paper towels, which is disgusting because the shared towels are often moist and musty smelling.. This could be the greatest gym in the area, but it’s just not there yet. It’s a good gym but could certainly be better for the price. UPDATE- They said they’re looking in on the equipment issues (torn pads and rusty areas behind seats and on the weight pegs on the equipment, which is caused by people directly spraying the equipment). It’d be nice to see them move to paper towels to wipe equipment and to have a kids area catering to the 6-10 year old range with movement based gaming or a climbing wall or something.

BEST GYM IN THE AREA BY FAR - I absolutely LOVE The MAC Xtreme, and everyone there! When I first joined, I fell in love with it. I ended up quitting and doing at home workouts during the pandemic, but the reason I came back was 100% because of Kristy, Rachael, and Mel, aka my favorite people, trainers who became friends who became family. The entire staff is incredible and encouraging and friendly. I’m always greeted by smiles. You know Cheers? Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name - and that place is the MAC! They’ve helped me so much to accomplish my goals, I’m back to my pre pregnancy weight and feeling SO strong, stronger than I’ve ever been. I basically live here, it’s my second home. My husband plays bball on the bball court. My kids absolutely love the kids club. Don’t even question whether or not it’s worth it, it absolutely 100% is. Take some group fitness classes, sign up for SGT, trust me, you won’t regret it.
