About

The Arthur Community Pool, located in Arthur, IL, is a public outdoor swimming facility that serves as a popular recreational destination for the local community during the summer season. It typically offers a variety of swimming opportunities for all ages, providing a place for exercise, leisure, and social gatherings.

Specific, regularly published pool temperatures for the Arthur Community Pool are not readily available in public sources. As an outdoor community pool, its temperature is generally influenced by ambient weather conditions and maintained at a comfortable level for recreational swimming, rather than a precisely advertised constant temperature.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The pool receives praise for being a great family-friendly option with a fun water slide, diving board, and reasonable pricing, making it a good place to cool off. However, significant concerns are raised about the lifeguards, who are described as immature, unprofessional, negligent, and reckless, often playing rather than monitoring swimmers and even humiliating children. There are also complaints about inconsistent operating hours, with the pool frequently closing before its advertised evening times, making it difficult for adults to swim without crowds.

The pool is great! We had a lot of fun! We love the water slide! It's a great place to swim!! However, I was not happy with the Life Guards! They were all teens, But they acted no better than Grade schoolers! Two of the guards were chasing each other around the pool, like they were children! I saw one of the life guards go down the water slide head first, even though the sign clearly said, "Feet first only". They were swimming, recklessly jumping off the diving board, having races across the pool, ect... Most of the time they would all be together in a corner just talking and laughing, completely oblivious to what was going on around them. They weren’t taking their job or there responsibilities seriously. When you are working with children, things can happen so fast! They weren’t paying any attention! It’s not just a job, these are lives they are supposed to be guarding. What they wanted was just to play in the pool and get paid for doing it! One of the guards had a swimming race across the pool with one of the girls about nine years old. The lifeguard won the race. Then he exclaimed in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear, “You stink at swimming!” The girl hung her head in shame and said, “I know” She was completely humiliated! That is not acceptable behavior! They had five lifeguards on duty, so in that case, you may not need all five watching the pool all the time. If a few lifeguards are interacting and playing with the children that’s fine! He could have let her win and she would have felt so special! No, he had to be the big man! He showed her who’s better! Obviously, if you are hiring people, it never pays to hire a child to do the work of an adult. We brought a six year old to go swimming and he had a football to play with. Twice the life guards took the ball from him and were tossing it back and forth and would only give it back begrudgingly, like WE were ruining THEIR day! For the safety of the children swimming I thought I should write this review. (IF YOU ARE A PARENT) Always keep a very close eye on your children because the Grade Schoolers they’re trying to pass off as lifeguards certainly wont!

Never seem to be open in the evening even though it's during their open hours. I went at 530pm and they were closed. The hours on Facebook say they are open until 8. I don't go in the afternoon because I like to actually swim and cannot accomplish this when there are a million kids splashing around. This pool has been going downhill for a long time. You would think actually being open during reasonable hours would be a step in the right direction. I would much rather keep driving half an hour out of town for a better pool (Mattoon).
