The Beaufort Pool refers to the Beaufort County Aquatic Center, located at 35 State Rd S-7-266, Beaufort, SC 29907. This facility is managed by the YMCA of Beaufort County in partnership with Beaufort County. It is a comprehensive aquatic center designed for various activities, including lap swimming, competitive events, swimming lessons, water therapy, and recreational family fun, serving the community with year-round aquatic programs and facilities.
The Beaufort County Aquatic Center typically maintains two main heated pools: an 8-lane, 25-yard competitive pool, generally kept at temperatures ranging from 79-81°F (26-27°C) for lap swimming, and a warm water therapy/instructional pool, usually maintained between 86-88°F (30-31°C) for lessons and therapeutic use. A splash pad is also available, which is typically unheated or only slightly warmed.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this facility are mixed. Positives include clean pools, excellent value for a year membership, and generally friendly and helpful staff. Many praise the swim lessons for older children, noting better progress and price compared to the YMCA. However, significant negatives include poorly run infant swimming classes where babies are constantly screaming due to incorrect teaching methods, a slow and inefficient sign-in process, and some staff members being overly strict and hostile towards children playing in the pool. Additionally, there's a complaint about the lack of public restroom access, specifically for bus drivers who previously had this privilege.

Pool is cleaner than the YMCA. Year membership is n excellent value. But The class for infant swimming is screaming babies every time. I dont care it is a large company vendor. It is just wrong. They need to support the head + hold baby sideways. Screaming is not the correct lesson.
Had a good visit with granddaughter Took forever to get signed in, need new process.. Pool nice and employees nice...
We switched from YMCA swim lessons. The price is better and my son learned more today than he did all last year's session at the Y. The staff is super friendly and helpful, we're hooked
Do not bring kids here. The two staff ladies act like security guards and are annoyed by kids playing. Never coming back. They took away the joy of being a kid in the pool. They yelled at the kids at least 15 times in one hour. I truly believe they just wanted to close and go home early. No wonder this place is empty.
No public restrooms. The BHS Bus Drivers has always been allowed to use the restrooms, But not anymore. Can you imagine after a long trip having to go else where, when your park out is right in front of the pool. I don't support them anymore. I'll take my business else where....
