Cannot recommend Paul highly enough! My husband and I both did our PADI certification years ago through other dive shops, and felt like we needed a refresher before an upcoming trip. Paul was able to work with our schedule to get us in quickly, tailored our time together to work on the skills we felt were rustiest, and stayed with us as long as needed for us to feel reacclimated with the process. His equipment was super clean and well maintained. Most importantly, perhaps, he kept the whole experience fun and enjoyable with a great sense of humor backed by years of knowledge. We enjoyed our time with him so much that we just had him out to lead our two boys through the junior pool program! I’d confidently return to Sonny Side of SCUBA again for any SCUBA related needs.

Absolutely awesome program! I took the level one open water course here. The instructor Paul, is one of the most knowledgeable instructors I've met, very helpful and he's also a navy veteran. If youre near johnson county and want to get certified please go through with this program! All you need to know for scuba you'll find it right here.

Sonny certified my wife and I four years ago. We have since been on multiple dives and always feel safe after taking his PADI open water course. Sonny is a standup guy and we remain in contact to this day.

My experience with Sonny Side of Scuba was hands-down the best experience I have ever had, with any individual or organization, in any industry, ever. I completed the PADI Open Water Course with Paul and it is currently one of the best courses I have ever taken. His teaching style draws on many years of diving experience, yet he conveys an uncanny level of patience for even the earliest of beginners. Even with varying skill levels diving at one time, Paul was able to keep each student engaged and challenged, such that they were continually furthering their skill set. On top of teaching the information from PADI, Paul emphasized practical-yet-critical aspects of diving that PADI does not include in its literature. I appreciated the time he took to address safety factors, as well as the necessary knowledge for me to be able to go out and be a safe diver once certified. One of the most alluring things about Sonny Side of Scuba (before meeting Paul and his Divemasters) is the cost. The pricing for each of the courses is extremely competitive. At the time I took the class, it was the least expensive anywhere around Indianapolis. Paul took care of everything and all the gear was included. I was certainly shocked that the most affordable option did not come at the cost of poor service or something like that. Everyone associated with Sonny Side of Scuba is very kind, helpful, accommodating, and fun. The course is also devoid of any sort of salesmanship. Paul is an instructor, not a salesman. It was pretty refreshing to take a class where I wasn't being sold something every few minutes. If you're even remotely interested in scuba, this is the place to go.

Paul is an amazing instructor and an even better person! He explains scuba in a way for everyone to understand, and makes sure everyone is comfortable before going in for a dive!
