This will be our last year purchasing a membership at Mingo. The place constantly has altered schedules/closings for swim meets. The swim test has to be retaken every year, because apparently they don’t keep their lists of approved kids. The side entrance for members is useless because they don’t keep wristbands for the kids there and make you walk to the front and wait anyway. My daughter used the slides for 2 months and then got turned away for being half an inch too short… even though the water at the bottom of the slide is 3 foot… but my daughter passed the swim test in 12 FOOT and goes off of the high five into 12 FOOT of water. Laughable. Nothing makes sense here. It’s less than clean, especially at opening when it should be ready to go. It gets worse and worse every year we go.

It was a hot day, so I figured me and my little brother would go swimming. First, you should know about this place : the locker room does not have lockers, and it's just a huge open space, so there is no privacy for little ones. Second, the showers well a few work but you have to hold the button to make it work. This is great for water savings, terrible for convenience. They do not offer towels either. The cost for an adult is $10 and $8 for a child. Once we got to the pool, one of the lifeguards, when asking her a question, basically ignored my question and asked me to move out of the way in a rude tone. Then my little brother jumped in the pool, and another lifeguard blew the whistle and told him no diving. This would be fine if when everyone else was doing the same thing she had said that but she didn't and I'm white and my little brother is black the only difference from the others and him was that so to be honest that put a bad taste in my mouth of this place. One of the slides, the yellow one, is dangerous. I went down it, and I'm a little bigger, but I truly almost flew out of the open side of the slide. Great community pool for families. Compared to the orange park pool down at Lewis center, it is 1) a lot less people with more empty chairs to sit and get relaxed, kids will have less people waiting for their slides 2) pool's deep water diving is quite high and fun for teen age kids, much higher than other park pools 3) very adult friendly pool for lap swim lane and adult time 4) staff members are actually present on site on top of life guards and they are considerate and helpful making sure they provide good experiences for visitors. Reasonably priced for both visitors and residents. We are going back tomorrow.

This place is really awesome if you love having zero communication about anything. Did you sign your kid up swim lessons and are wondering where to meet or what to bring for the lesson? You could try emailing and calling, but you will get zero response. Did you get charged an extra non resident fee when signing up for swim lessons, despite living in the city and your address on file being in the city? Again, no response on email or phone. You could even stop in and ask the front desk worker, and they'd take down your name and number and promise you someone will call you back, but alas: no response. Did one of your swim lessons get rained out? They said they'd email a makeup date, but the email never came. (No, it's not in my junk folder. That's literally common sense to check the spam folder.) Upon asking other parents, they'll inform you they never got an email, either, meaning the email was never sent or that their email list of customers isn't complete. Anyway, totally give this place your time and money if you love having 0 communication and being frustrated.

Great setup, great location. Poorly managed as I was charged w a non-resident fee for swimming lessons when I am clearly a resident and told sorry no refunds. Paid for swimming lessons, had a rain out and nobody was communicated about a make-up date. Sorry, no refunds. I would rate them a zero if it weren't for my children's swim teacher. This operation run by teenagers clearly does not care about customer service.
