Fitness center offering a swimming pool, as well as childcare services.
The YMCA of Mount Vernon features two heated pools: a 6-lane, 25-yard main pool maintained at 82 degrees Fahrenheit, and a smaller, shallow-water pool generally kept at a warmer 88-90 degrees Fahrenheit.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The facility elicits mixed reviews from users. Many appreciate a recent, 'amazing' remodel, noting its modern aesthetic, improved cleanliness, efficient space utilization, and quality workout equipment, with some calling it the 'best in town.' However, significant criticisms include 'horrible' or limited operating hours, particularly the lack of Sunday openings, which causes some members to seek out other YMCAs. There are conflicting reports on cleanliness, with some praising it post-remodel while others detail a severe lack of cleanliness and 'filth' on equipment. Additional concerns involve 'limited' or 'sub par' equipment, a 'horrible' chlorine stench from the pool raising safety concerns, and major difficulties with membership cancellation processes, described as misleading and involving poor customer service.
Reviews
The facility lacks basic cleanliness in that there should not be a build up of dust and grime and filth on fitness equipment. But absolutely don’t mention that to Emily or apparently her supervisor at the desk otherwise you will spend five months of your life dealing with lies and fighting to get your membership cancelled. Never having to deal with this facility again may still be too soon. Cancel at anytime is not accurate. And dear goodness, don’t try to cancel if you move out of the area.
Been to quite a few gyms and ymca's over ohio. Its not the biggest by far but they do very well with the space and activities they have. Its honestly an amazing remodel job. They have been working on it this last year and are almost done. I lay flooring professionally and am very thankful they have done a wonderful job. Very modern, clean, and makes for better walking routes throughout the facility. I am fond of the workout equipment versions they have and it continues to be my favorite place to work out.
Absolutely love your gym. Best in town. But being a student and working full time leaves the weekends as the most opportunistic time to get my gym work out in. You guys should open for a few hours on sundays in the summer.
When I joined I was shown limited equipment and with the pool the stench of the chlorine was horrible. I could barely breathe. I don't trust all that to be safe for my grandchildren to learn to swim
The hours are horrible and the gym is sub par compared to the other YMCA’s. I drive to Newark’s Y 4 or 5 times a week just to avoid my.vernons. Need new equipment but most of all better hours
