About

Chain fitness center offering a pool, basketball, volleyball, and child care.

The YMCA of Ross County features two swimming pools: a lap pool and a warm water/therapy pool. While specific temperatures for this location are not publicly listed, YMCA lap pools are generally maintained at a cooler temperature, typically around 78-82°F (25.5-27.7°C) for optimal exercise. The warm water pool, designed for therapy, swim lessons, and younger children, is usually kept at a higher, more comfortable temperature, often in the range of 88-92°F (31.1-33.3°C).

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews for the YMCA present a mixed but generally positive picture. Many members highly praise the welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable staff, who often know members by name, contributing to a strong sense of community and family. The facilities are noted as clean and well-maintained, with recent updates to the fitness equipment, and a nice pool is available for open swims. Adults appreciate the variety and quality of classes, and several reviews highlight that children love attending and find many things to keep them busy. However, there are notable criticisms. One negative experience detailed inconsistent coaching and poor value for money in a children's sports program, leading to disappointment. A significant concern raised by active working seniors is the complete lack of evening programs, swimming, or exercise classes tailored to their schedule, leading to a feeling of being underserved and a perception that the facility primarily caters to families, neglecting the needs of a growing demographic of working seniors.

Signed my son up for Rookie sports and the coach was only there one practice and the rest of the time it was fill in. We only got good practices when Coach T was there. If Coach T was the coach for the whole 6 weeks the experience would have been better. Not worth 75 dollars to get 2-3 practices. I will drive out of town before signing up for another sport at the YMCA in Chillicothe.

From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with a warm welcome. Once you start coming, they all make a point to know you and call you by name. The staff is always so helpful with any need or questions you have. The YMCA has replaced the old workout machines and purchased the latest equipment all in the last year. The staff offers so many different classes at times that fit my schedule. The fitness trainers and their staff are great in helping you on new machines, designing a workout based on your level of exercise and helping you reach your fitness goals. There may be larger and glitzier facilities, but nothing tops the way the YMCA treats me like family every time I am there.

I LOVE my Y! I joined the Y when I first moved to town. It provided a great place to meet people and get my children involved. I’ve been a member for 6 years now, and my Y family is an integral part of my life. The adult classes are great, the facility is clean and well-maintained and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Ross County is blessed to have this amazing facility.

Our kids absolutely love going here. From the staff to the facilities there are a number of things that you can do to keep you busy. The fitness room has been updated and if you can be at one of the open swims that are available, you can enjoy the nice pool they have. All of the staff are friendly and can answer any questions that you may have. I highly recommend this place.

YMCA better change with the times. There is relatively nothing at the Y for an active senior who still works full time days. No swimming after work, no exercise classes, nothing. I work 730-4. There is nothing available for me and lots and lots of working seniors like me. According to September 2020 AARP PUBLIC POLICY INSTITUTE article, "The US Essential Workforce Ages 50 and Older, " an astounding 37.3% of the workforce is over 50. 14.7% are 60+. Wake up America. Retirement while you can still work is a thing of the past. Just like the one income family. Moms and dads have to work to keep their heads above water, and so do the elderly. With nothing offered for seniors in the evenings, and the pool monopolized by children, are you really being fair to the community as a whole? Seems more like you're catering to families because they pay more for a membership. Money is everything.
