About

Public pool offering facilities for children.

Specific, consistently published pool temperatures for Garfield Park Pool are generally not available. As an outdoor public facility, its water temperature typically fluctuates with ambient weather conditions during its operational season.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The new Garfield Park Pool receives mixed feedback. While the pool facilities are generally praised as nice, clean, and enjoyable for kids (especially the slides), numerous operational issues and policies draw significant criticism. Major complaints include an extremely slow and stringent entry process involving long lines, mandatory ID and swim attire inspections, and reading of bylaws, which severely cuts into actual swim time. Patrons are also highly frustrated by a strict no re-entry policy (even to access a car), limited concession options (vending machines only accepting $1 bills with no change available), and the requirement to pay an entrance fee even when not swimming (e.g., supervising children). Other concerns include the lack of provided locker locks (without prior notice), frequent 10-minute breaks, and limited operating hours, leading many to feel the overall experience is poorly managed and not customer-friendly despite the nice physical amenities.

This place is a joke. Bracelets are moot. Don't forget anything in your car bc u will HAVE to pay to get back in. Brought plenty of money for concession only to find out its vending machines that ONLY take $1s. It would have been nice to know this in advance .They aren't allowed to make change. It's suppose to be a splash place for everyone but not everyone can use it.. Oh and paying to not swim, so I could (per their rules) watch my kids who are under 16. Total worth driving to Champaign instead.

The new Garfield park pool is very nice but I have to say there needs to be a lot of improvement. I visit the pool on Sunday 6/23/2024 and the time schedule stated the pool is open from 2pm until 6pm. We arrived to a long line at 1:55 pm. It took 1hour to get into the pool side. At 2:00 not 1 person was inside because you have to be examined and read your rites before entering. Each person had to show ID if your 16 and up (which is okay) then each of these persons 16 and up are read your pool by-laws and asked if we still want to enter the pool?(this was the reason we came to swim people). Also every person ages 0 to adult that wants to enter the pool side has to show the worker behind the window the inside of your drawers for boys and show your swim suit for girls and they will let you know if they approve of your swim attire before you head to the next line to pay. The pay line you go to get your bracelet for each person entering which was $8.00 each not a bad price for 2 hours to swim. Once you get the bracelet you have to put on each wrist before you are reviewed and buzzed in the door to the dressing room. (I know we live in crazy time now but this felt very prison-ish according to movies and seeing how the police presence was very active for this entry) Mind you this is now after 3pm. We get into the pool area get a spot head to put our belongings in a locker that needs to have a notice out to let people know you need to bring your own LOCK because "they don't supply locks per one of the workers". How would anyone know this if you don't tell them? So the entire time you have to make sure you keep an eye out for your belongings as this is a public place. The 3 slides the kids liked but you had to wait a little while as it was slow moving and you would hate to be in line and now it's time to take another 10 minute break. There's 2 vending machines with a few bag of chips and candy so on your 10 minute break try to get in line as fast as you can. Lol And speaking of 10 minutes breaks why so many in the short period of time that your there? We had 3 but there were 4 but of course the first 10 minute break we were still in line trying to get in! Our total swim time was 2 and 1/2 hours even though the hours say 2-6. They (life guards)all started blowing there whistles at 5:55 saying the pool was closed and you had to exit the pool. The worker started sweeping up the changing room so 90% didn't shower 🙄 they just left the premises. We showered to get the chlorine off while almost being swept over. I know it just opened but please get a better system of entry so everyone can enjoy the pool. The time your allowed to swim is very limited.
