About

The YMCA of the Blue Water Area, located at 1525 3rd St, Port Huron, MI, is a vibrant community hub offering diverse programs and facilities for all ages. It features a wellness center, group exercise classes, and two indoor pools, fostering healthy living and community engagement.

The YMCA of the Blue Water Area has two indoor pools: the Lap Pool is maintained at 80-82 degrees Fahrenheit, and the Warm Water Pool is kept at 86-88 degrees Fahrenheit.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this YMCA are highly polarized. Many patrons praise the facility for its cleanliness, reasonable fees (including day/week passes and family memberships), flexible hours, and generally helpful and kind staff. They appreciate its impressive quality for a small town, noting fantastic views and a great location for outdoor workouts. However, a significant number of reviews describe extremely negative experiences, particularly regarding staff interpretation of rules, poor customer service, and an unwillingness to be questioned. One severe incident involved the police being called over a child's flotation device, despite the parent believing it met stated guidelines. Other complaints include facilities needing updates, disrepair of pool amenities, difficulty joining programs for children, and small locker rooms. These negative reviews often characterize the YMCA as the 'worst on the planet,' 'shameful,' and not a 'Christian organization.'

We visit St. Clair to see family and visit the YMCA when we are here. Great facility with reasonable fees for a week or day pass.

This place has fantastic views and is in a great location to take your workout outside as well. Everyone at the desk has been very helpful. The facility is always clean. I like that you can work out at any hours as my son comes often very late in the evening. We follow the rules and treat people nicely. My young adult children have never had any problems. I’m not sure everyone knows how rare it is to have this nice of a facility in a small town. As someone who has lived lots of places, this is pretty impressive! A whole family membership is really reasonable. Love it.

Absolutely the worst YMCA on the planet. Just had the police called on me and my children because I brought a brand new Coast Guard Approved flotation device for my 2 year old to wear in the pool. Which is specifically stated and permitted in the regulations and conduct policy of this facility. Doesn't say specifically that only YMCA supplied items are ONLY permitted it says that it must meet certain guidelines. Which in the case it did. My son is 2 and is just starting to get used to the water and is very comfortable with his style of flotation device. Very rude and condescending staff asked me to leave which I wanted to know why but because I questioned someone at this facility I was immediately told to leave and the police were called. I eventually left after gathering my well behaved other children but they don't like when someone questions their own rules. Not how you treat members. The rules here are always a problem. You think you are following these rules and polices but because it says staff has the right to interpret them as they see fit or how they feel for the day is not how a organization should be run. One will never be able to join any of their programs for some stupid reason especially if it centers around kids. Facilities here are always in need of updating and pool environments like slides, kids items are always in disrepair. One needs to think twice about wasting any hard earned money at this facility so many other choices to choose from. Especially instead of working to solve the problem you escalate it to where the police end up being called because you don't want to handle it yourself. So be prepared for it. I have lived in plenty other areas around the US and belonged to many other YMCA and this one here in Port Huron has got to be the most SHAMEFUL on I've seen. But if fitting for the area. I will be posting where I am getting my information from when I wanted to have my 2 year old son wear something that I as his parent would feel more comfortable with instead of some disgusting way to big device that was unacceptable. I don't care that it says the rules can be changed depending on which day of the month that particular person is on. I am and was going by the posted rules. Don't the owner fool you on their go to excuse of hostile behavior, or foul language. None of that was used and none of that was exhibited today. That is what they cite when someone clearly follows their posted guidelines and rules and then questions them when one of the many employees change or bend them to the mood they are having for that day. This is a constant problem. One should trash the rules and then just make new ones every day as one see fit. DO NOT JOIN THIS PLACE!! DON'T EVEN SET FOOT HERE! CLEARLY NOT A CHRISTIAN ORGANIZATION OR ENVIRONMENT. UPDATE: Still sucks and is the worst cesspool of an organization around. RUN!!! Nothing has changed!

it's good but if it didn't have such a small locker room and I win I had gone for a field trip because the locker rooms were so small I had to swap my clothes in front of my class.
