What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the Superior YMCA are mixed, with members appreciating its presence in the community, its well-staffed and clean facilities, and the polite and helpful current staff. However, several significant issues are raised. Criticisms include the presence of divisive content like Fox News on gym televisions, which is seen as conflicting with the YMCA's inclusive values. Operational concerns highlight frequent pool and hot tub closures, which are particularly inconvenient for seniors needing the pool for mobility and disabled individuals who lack accessible waiting areas or encounter heavy, hard-to-open doors. There are also strong complaints about membership management, including members feeling scammed by recurring charges and unclear cancellation policies, leading to unexpected billing for unused services. A long-standing issue details a past false accusation against a member, leading to police investigation and humiliation. Additionally, the limited open recreational pool times, attributed to management by Duluth YMCA and use by Duluth Parks and Rec kids, is a major point of frustration for local members.

I'm glad there is a YMCA in Superior. I wish that the Fox News Entertainment Channel wasn't on in the weight gym. It doesn't align at all with the inclusive values of the YMCA, and it divides us.
Well staffed and clean location. Pool and hot tub are great but closing down for 30 minutes at a time several times a day is a pain when there are no chairs anywhere near the pool to sit and wait. Disabled people who want to keep swimming have no where to go during this time except a changing room with hard benches. Also, the doors are all very very heavy and hard to open for the disabled who are alone. They need auto assist doors for the disabled throughout the building.
Scammed out of 320 dollars. When I originally signed up, I told the receptionist I want to try it for a month. No one said anything to me about reoccurring charges when I signed up, nor did anyone mention that you have to sign a cancellation form in person. Haven’t been there or checked in 7 months but they happily collected money from me the whole time. I want a refund
Since Duluth YMCA is managing Superior YMCA the open rec pool times has been very limited due to Duluth Parks and Rec kids taking Superior rec pool time. Perhaps Duluth Parks and rec kids could use Duluth pools. As a senior I count on being able to use our pool to keep my mobility strong. There is no swimming now on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday's due to this change.
I should have given this place a 1 star rating seven years ago after I was falsely accused of molesting my then 12 year old daughter in the pool. I won't forget the humiliation of being investigated by the police and social services. No apologies from anybody. I am not a negative person and don't like writing bad reviews but now my beef is with the hot tub. I fully understand the complexities of keeping it operational with so many people using it but that is the main reason for my membership. Just too many times coming here only to find a red cone meaning it is closed. On a brighter note, I do find the present staff to be quite polite and helpful.
