Cons - Parking-There are no designated parking spots for guests that stay at the hotel 1888. We had to drive around for about 5-10 mins to look for a spot before finding one and it was about a ten minute walk to the hotel from our parking spots. I highly suggest they figure out parking for guests. Especially considering the cost of the room. Room temp- for some reason at different times the room temperature would rise up to 72-74 degrees and we weren't able to get the temperature back down. We had to call a couple of different times for them to fix it. Size of room- the room size was pretty small. As it was stated in another review, there was just barely enough room to move around. Just enough room for the king bed and a small bathroom and just a shower, no tub. Also there wasn't a full length mirror in the room at all. The shampoo was empty, we called but it never got refilled. Breakfast- For the price we paid, we kind of expected a bit nicer of a breakfast. It was basically quiche, bacon and a parfait yogurt. They also only had 4 tables for guests to sit with 16 rooms. We ended up eating in the athletic club at one of their tables. I'm not sure why the guests at hotel 1888 can't just go over to the lodge restaurant for breakfast? Vending machines or room service would be nice for late night or early morning needs. Pros- The concierges were very friendly and helpful. The place was really clean. The bed was comfortable. Being super close to the pool was convenient. There was a coffee/latte machine 24/7 which great! Would we stay again, probably not...
Just...WOW! This hotel is luxurious and comfortable. The staff are so helpful and friendly! And staying here allows you to use all of the facilities in the recreation area as well as the hot spring pools. We are so glad that we chose to stay here!
We booked a suite at the Lodge over Hotel 1888 for our honeymoon. Since its opening week for Hotel 1888 it was hard to find details about the new rooms. When we arrived we got upgraded to room 1888, at Hotel 1888. What a wonderful gift by the staff. The rooms is magnificent and the location can’t get any better. We have access to the Athletic club, with full gym, racketball, sauna, etc. Instead of a key card they give you a wrist band that unlocks everything. The robes, towels and breakfast are all an upgrade. Plus when we step foot outside we are at the hot springs. I would highly recommend staying at this new Hotel and the staff works hard. Shout out to Sarah and Shae for making out trip truly memorable.
The hotel claimed to be adults-only (21+), but this was not stated anywhere in the listing or policies—only that the booking guest must be 21+, which is standard for most hotels. So we did have our two small children to their dismay. This should be clearly disclosed before booking. Our room was uncomfortably hot despite adjusting the thermostat, the TV didn’t work, and the bathroom was low on toiletries upon arrival. The view faced the parking lot, so cart lights frequently shone into the bathroom (which has no blind). We had to keep the bathroom door open due to the AC intake being there. Breakfast was nice and most staff were friendly, but the manager with the hat insisted the adults-only policy was listed—despite the attached photo showing otherwise. Overall, the lack of clear communication and basic maintenance issues made the stay disappointing due to the price point. The associate, Summer, was amazing and super helpful, providing restaurant recommendations to our young family.
Disappointed Stay at Hotel 1888 – Not Worth the Price I had high hopes for Hotel 1888 in Glenwood Springs, but unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to the price or expectations. We booked a King room at over $550 per night, and for that rate, I expected a more spacious room and a better overall experience. One of my biggest disappointments was the view from the room. Our main window faced the pool, which made me feel uncomfortable every time I looked outside. I don't understand why a pool-facing room is even an option at this price point. There was a window that faced the mountains, but it was placed so high that I had to either climb onto a chair to open it, or ask my boyfriend to do it for me—which really took away from enjoying what should have been a beautiful mountain view. To add to the frustration, on the first night we noticed that two ceiling panels weren't properly placed. We contacted the overnight staff, who told us it would be fixed the next day, but no one ever followed up or resolved it during our entire stay. The room itself was very small—basically just a bed and a bathroom, with little room to move around. Definitely not what I expected from a luxury-priced hotel. No room service, no luggage carts, and surprisingly, we couldn’t adjust our own air conditioning without a code, which the front desk didn’t seem to know how to provide. The design of the hotel seems to prioritize style over function. The chairs were beautiful, and the elevator that opens both ways on the same floor was a unique feature, but honestly felt unnecessarily extravagant compared to what the rooms lacked. The one saving grace was the front desk associate. He went above and beyond to help us—from carrying our bags himself, to offering fans, and giving us fantastic recommendations for places to eat and explore around town. His hospitality was the highlight of our stay. Overall, I left feeling very disappointed. If you're coming to Glenwood Springs, I’d honestly recommend Hotel Colorado next door instead. Their rooms are bigger, more affordable, and offer a better experience without the overhyped price tag. Hotel 1888 might look nice in photos, but it misses the mark where it really matters.
