About

The Mt. Washington Aquatic Center, located at 269 Water St in Mt. Washington, KY, is a popular outdoor public pool offering a variety of water activities. It features a large main pool with varying depths, diving boards, a slide, a splash pad, a zero-entry area, and lap lanes, catering to all ages and swimming preferences during the summer season.

As an outdoor public aquatic center, specific pool temperatures for the Mt. Washington Aquatic Center are typically not published. The water temperature is generally dependent on ambient weather conditions and natural warming from the sun.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The pool receives generally positive feedback, praised for its affordability ($5 admission, discounts for seniors, first responders, and young children), allowing patrons to bring their own floats, coolers, and outside food/drinks. Reviewers appreciate the presence of a concession stand and showers, and many find it a fun, family-friendly place that has improved under city management. Lifeguards are often commended for their attentiveness and assistance. However, a significant recurring concern is unruly teenagers throwing balls and hitting other patrons, with some expressing dissatisfaction with staff's perceived reluctance to intervene. The allowance of large inner tubes in a small pool and a lack of sufficient adult supervision for patron behavior are also noted issues. Suggestions for improvement include adding more chairs and trash bins, and some miss the former diving boards.

My family had a great time the life guards were all doing their jobs well. I remember coming to this exact pool as a kid 25 years ago. It was exactly the same except we had diving boards then. So for this to be the only pool in the county they do a good job at keeping it up and under control. One sweet life guard helped a little guy that was struggling to get out of thr middle of the pool. She didn't have to assist him, as most other pools I have saw they wouldn't have noticed, she did. Who I observed to be the manager of the pool threatened to throw out unruly kids. So they listened to him. For it being the only pool in the county and funds clearly being alloted elsewhere, they do wonderful with what they got. $5 admission we brought our own snacks and drinks might want to grab some chairs too but we got some relatively early.

The pool is much improved over the last few years since the city took it over. I will say they could use more chairs and a couple more trash bins to encourage people to throw their own trash away. I also think an adult present to supervise the patrons behavior would be beneficial. Last year there were some boys throwing a football across the pool and several people got hit with it, including me. The last time it happened, I kept the ball and took it to the front desk. I felt like the kids working there were reluctant to step in to tell the boys to stop, and I get it, but they were throwing it hard, and one little girl got hit hard enough to make her cry.
