Positively delightful! We had a great time rock climbing and whipping down the two slides at the pool! Hot tub was nice too.
Wonderful place for a relaxing indoor swim. Reservation required for the swim times. Walk-ins are accepted but only if there is availibilty. Swim times are subject to change and are listed on the website. You dont pay until you go in. Military discount is available here. Its a huge rec center with plenty of available indoor activities. There are also spaces for private parties. A kids waiting zone and a gymnasium. There's also a workout gym with machines. I went for the pool. There's a slide, splash pad, lap pool, hot tub and WHIRLPOOL. Life guards are on duty and there are rules posted everywhere for safe swimming. Lockers are free, just ask staff for a free lock. There are also showers, bathrooms and changing rooms for both males and females. Cubby holes are also available poolside.
This was a fun activity for our family while on vacation in Flagstaff. The staff were nice and attentive. I never saw the guards be rude to patrons. They were always just enforcing "normal" public pool rules (no sitting on the wall, don't run, etc.). The only negative was the pool temperature was a little cooler that what we are used to, but we still stayed for our entire time slot. I called at 9:30 on a weekday and was able to get a 1:30 slot for 9 of us.
My friends and I went to Aquaplex to swim. However, the pool was closed due to no chlorine in the water. We discovered that the Aquaplex facilities get their maintenance care from the city. The employees are not trained to maintenance the pool, the pipes are old and this is a common problem. As we move into warmer/hotter temperatures it would be helpful if the city finds better solutions, so the pool will be regularly available to the public. Other than that, the Aquaplex is clean and other areas are functional. There is a nice walking track upstairs, and a workout area with weight and cardio machines/equipment. There are courts to play basketball and volleyball. A kids corner, rock climbing wall, community room for meetings, a cozy seating area with a fireplace and more. We loved the "cabanas", where you can use the restroom and include showers, sinks and bench. It's a beautiful building and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
We get there at 6:00pm for the 6:30pm to 8:00pm swim. We were told to wait until 6:15 to pay and go in. ( which we didn’t mind at all) We go back to the desk at 6:15 and they took down our names and then told us we had to wait again to go in incase something happened? Finally we were able to pay and go in at 6:25. The kids had a great time. At 7:30 they started shutting everything down, we went up to the desk at 7:40 and asked what time the pool closed and the girl at the front said the whole place closes at 7:45 now, and that the website needed to be updated. I asked politely if the other employees could be informed of this because we were told by two different employees that it closed at 8:00pm, she then blamed it on her manager for not updating it and informing public.
