What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews for this YMCA present a mixed, but largely negative, assessment. Positive aspects include a well-equipped facility featuring multiple gyms (including dedicated martial arts, machine, hybrid, and free-weight areas), racquetball and badminton courts, a spin room, a decent pool with ADA access, nice locker rooms, and available daycare. One reviewer also praised a newly remodeled gym area, overall good maintenance, and staffing for some parts of the facility. However, significant criticisms emerged across several areas. Many reviewers described the facility as outdated and too small, particularly when compared to other YMCA branches. Financial concerns were prominent, with complaints about a high day pass fee ($15), unexpected additional fees after tuition was paid in advance, extra charges for amenities like the sauna (which are typically free elsewhere), and a refusal to refund unused fees. Staffing and management issues included low wages ($8/hr) leading to inexperienced staff (e.g., in gymnastics) and a passive manager who avoided accountability. Concerns about transparency were also raised due to restricted parent access to children's learning sessions. Multiple reviewers concluded the YMCA was a 'rip off' and the 'worst ever,' strongly advising against working there or using its services, and recommending finding alternative facilities.

Well I stopped in to see what this YMCA has, and was pleasantly surprised by the facility. It hgymswo gyms and dedicated martial arts section, three gyms, one dedicated to machines, one hybrid, and one to free weights. They have two racquetball courts and a badminton court, a spin class room. A decent pool with ADA assistance. The locker room is nice as well. They have daycare available as well. They have a lot of choices for activities. It's really well maintained and staffed.
Its ok, its just outdated and too small all the way around, the galesburg one will spoil u, has sauna, way bigger weight room plus 2 other smaller ones but staff is really nice
The Burlington, Iowa YMCA is terrible and it doesn't matter if you work there or have kids attend things there. My family did both. They pay $8.00/hr so you have teenagers running the gymnastics facility and the gym manager is passive when it comes to feedback. She tells the whole group in general, instead of holding the person doing it accountable. DO NOT GO TO WORK AT THE GYMNASTICS FACILITY!!!! Also, you are not allowed in but once a session to see what your child is learning. To me, that says they are trying to hid something. I pay the YMCA but not allowed to watch my child learn. The main YMCA isn't any better and wants me to make me pay more after I have paid tuition in advance for 10 months. Now they add more fees. If it is paid for you shouldn't add more on the rate I already paid in advance. This place is a rip off and will not give me money back in fees that were collected but not used yet towards the purpose they were supposed to be used for. Best advise...DRIVE FARTHER AND FIND A BETTER FACILITY FOR YOU KIDS!!! AND DO NOT GO TO WORK AT THIS YMCA!!!
Gym 1 is a little bit dusty but the new gym remodeled is way better, pretty good.
$15 for a day pass (every other y is 6-9$), equipment has absolutely no organization, took us 15 minutes to get signed in, and you have to pay an extra fee just to use a sauna that every other y offers for free! Worst ymca I’ve ever been to.
