What are people saying (AI review summary)? Big Sandy Resort receives generally positive feedback, often praised for its beautiful, well-manicured grounds, stunning lake views, and family-friendly amenities including a pristine beach, large pools, and free boat slips. Guests frequently highlight the modern, comfortable cabins, excellent location, and friendly, efficient staff. However, experiences can be inconsistent. One reviewer encountered significant issues with a specific cabin (Cabin 48), noting a detached, hazardous deck, a bee nest, and booking discrepancies, which they suspected was due to a complimentary voucher stay. There are also complaints regarding declining and slow service at the resort's bar and grill, and unhelpful staff at the pontoon rental service. Despite these occasional drawbacks, many visitors highly recommend the resort for its overall appeal and facilities, though prospective guests might be advised to confirm specific cabin conditions.

We had the most wonderful vacation last week at Big Sandy Resort. We rented a cabin for a family of 15 get-together. It was Beautiful!! The grounds were perfectly manicured. The beach was in perfect shape for even the littlest ones. Brought our boat to a free slip. The big pool was enjoyed so much. Very kid friendly and Staff were all efficient and friendly! We Recommend Big Sandy Resort highly!!!
I won a voucher for a complementary 2 night stay at Big Sandy Resort and wanted to share my experience. For the most part it was decent. the communication prior was a little weird. I called about the voucher to make sure I could book anything and if any number of people are welcome. I also wanted to check how to book, if any payment is needed, etc. They told me that I can book online any of the cabins or villas that are available at the time of booking and to put in the comments that I have a gift certificate and no deposit or payment is needed. I would still put in my card information if anything gets damaged and such. I ended up getting an email saying that next time to make sure to call to reserve? (they told me i can do it online) and they moved my reservation to Cabin 48 instead of what we originally booked. Weekend comes and we are in Cabin 48. Not sure if they just stuck us in there because we didn’t have to pay, but the deck was detached and off to the side, leaving us unable to use it. the doors to the non existing deck couldn’t lock/was unstable, seems hazardous. Seemed the place was under construction, but they stuck us in there anyway? Also, there was a huuuuge bee nest in the light outside the garage which freaked us out a little about sitting on the front porch instead. I purposely booked 4 rooms since we had 4 couples staying, this one only had 3, so 2 couples had to share a room, which was unfortunate. Anyways, main disappointment was the missing deck. would have been nice to have a deck as I feel that is the most important part of a “cabin” get away. Everything else was pretty mid. Beds were comfy and nice living room/dining for us to play some games. We ate at the bar and grill one night, it was decent. Had a fun day renting the pontoon on the lake. “Your Boat Rentals” people aren’t very nice. We called to see about cancellation policy and didn’t get an answer. On the day-of the rental the dude showing us our boat seemed like we were bothering him. Overall, would *maybe* come again. I felt like I couldn’t complain when we went because, ya know, it was free. I also feel like they did stick us in there because we had a voucher; and that seems unfair. Hopefully they aren’t sticking people into that cabin who actually pay for their stay. Note to anyone reading: if you book Cabin 48 make sure to call and see if the construction is complete, deck is in tact, and bee nest has been taken care of. 🤌
Took over 20 minutes to get the drinks we ordered and no water was served. Food took over 30 minutes. I would understand if it was busy but the place was not even 25 percent full. 5 years ago this place was awesome, not sure if they changed ownership or service but it is awful now.
BEAUTIFUL is an understatement. From the lake views to the gorgeous cabin and all the amenities. We can’t wait to come back in August. Staff is wonderful and eager to help. Also liked being able to venture to nearby bars and restaurants. Location is great!
