About

Seasonal, kid-friendly option with an accessible chairlift, a fenced kiddie pool and dive boards.

Specific, consistently maintained pool temperatures for Patton Pool are not readily advertised. As a public outdoor community pool, it is generally unheated or naturally warmed by the sun, and guests often describe the water as refreshing.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? Patton Pool and Park offers a range of amenities and activities. The pool is generally praised for its cleanliness, professional lifeguards, ample seating, and dedicated areas for lap swimming, diving, and a gated baby pool. There's a concession stand with reasonably priced items and essentials like swim diapers and life jackets available. The park features a skate park, walking trails (connecting to a greenway), picnic areas (though outside food/drinks are prohibited), basketball courts, and a playground, making it suitable for various ages. However, there are significant criticisms: one review notes the main pool was out of commission for years due to flooding and damage, possibly from creek overflow exacerbated by new construction runoff. Another user experienced an unexpected early pool closure for a staff meeting, leading to disappointment. Traffic noise from a nearby highway is also a common complaint. Despite these issues, the park is seen as a valuable community oasis, offering a variety of recreational options.

I lived in Hendersonville for 20+ years before I actually spent any amount of time worth mentioning at this park. A pretty little oasis in the heart of a once small mountain town struggling to keep pace with hordes of newcomers and seemingly rampant urban expansion. There are still some old timers around who remember when Patton park was sort of on the "edge" of town. Out in the sticks. Imagine!! Helene beat the place up pretty badly; lots of mud from the creek that runs through it and debris laying here and there. Still, we tiptoed through the muck and had a nice China garden takeout lunch under the shelter and watched some brave kids biking in the skate park. Good place to skateboard or walk or shoot some hoops. Trail ties into the greenway, which is also a cool feature. The pool, which is the main attraction, is out of commission for at least the next few years though, Bummer.. Traffic noise from Asheville hwy gets a little tiresome which is why, to me, it's a four out of five on the ratings scale. Time and manhours will take care of the mud problem, and the pool too, though that's sure to be a much bigger job. The creek will probably continue to flood the place any time there's a substantial amount of rainfall. Runoff from new construction all over town isn't helping our neglected and abused mountain streams one whit and will prove to be a major issue in coming years..it's already trashed the pool. Stiil, a nice little park, all told. Well worth a drop-by if you're in that part of town on a pretty day.. Peace

Very disappointing day when my mother and I arrived at Patton Pool with my 5 year old daughter. As we walked to the gate we were told by the teenage girl at the front that the pool was closing in 10 minutes. It was 4:20. The pool closes at 6:30. She said they were closing for a staff meeting. On a Sunday. During summer. This baffles me as no where is it posted on their website that they will be closing early today. Nor does it make sense that you would schedule a TWO HOUR staff meeting during normal business hours at a PUBLIC pool. They should’ve done that when it rained for 3 hours from noon-3. We made sure to check the pool hours before driving all the way over here. Now I have an upset 5 year old. Something needs to change.

Great location and enjoyable environment. Ramp was definitely helpful with entering and exiting the pool for younger kids. They accept cash as well as card at the entrance and have a snack bar.
