About

Built in 1950 and renovated in the 1990s, this facility offers swimming lessons and exercise classes.

The main pool at Veterans' Memorial Swim Pool is heated, typically maintained at a comfortable temperature between 82 and 84 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 27.8 to 28.9 degrees Celsius).

What are people saying (AI review summary)? This facility offers a range of activities including a pool, baseball fields, a basketball court, and a skate park, making it a fun destination for families. Many appreciate the well-maintained pools for lap swimming and therapy, often finding lanes uncrowded. However, several reviews highlight significant issues with confusing schedules, with online hours not always matching actual availability (e.g., free swim ending early). A recurring complaint is rude and unhelpful staff, particularly concerning pool rules, with instances of staff yelling at patrons and enforcing unclear regulations, leading to negative experiences for families, especially with children using slides. Membership processes were described as bureaucratic but manageable.

A great place for Swimming with your family. Also multiple baseball fields, a basketball court outdoors, and a skate park. This is a fun place to spend the day or afternoon.

We stopped in La Grande on our way to the beach and were looking for something fun to do. We have 2 young kids and were super excited to take them to the pool. We checked the hours online and went expecting to stay for 2 hours. We walked in the building and were met with a, "so, we close in like 20 minutes". Turns out free swim ends an hour before closing.

Great facility. Signed up for a 1 month membership while I was in town for work. Mostly used the big pool for lap swimming, but also used the smaller, warm pool for stretching/PT/etc. There was only one time when I had to share a lane. Their schedule was a little confusing to understand at first. When it says "rec swim", there are still lap swimming lanes available. When it says "lap swimming", that means lap swimming only. During lap swim hours, the small pool was sometimes open, sometimes closed; never could figure out when. For the monthly membership, they required my info to be put into their computer system and have a credit card on file for auto-pay. I had them turn off auto pay immediately since I only needed one month. And I had to fill out a form to cancel my membership at the end of the month. More beurocracy than I would have wanted, but they run a tight ship, and I respect that. Overall, the paperwork was a minor convenience in comparison to the value I got out of my membership.

I was in town for work and so excited to have a place to drop in and swim! The lifeguards were friendly and helpful with the check-in process. And the pool itself worked great for my needs of lap swimming. You've got a great pool there La Grande :)

Wan to go for a quick relaxing swim in the heat of summer? Do NOT come here. They were completely rude and made everyone want to leave five minutes after entering the building. After carefully reading the rules they have posted all around the establishment, I “poorly” assumed it was alright for my kids to go down the slide as they were old enough and met the height requirements instead, we were screamed at, they blew their whistle at us repeatedly and then proceeded to scream at my kids. They informed us that the swim hours were from 3:30-5:30 yet kicked everyone out at 5, despite their hours stating that we were able to swim until 8:30. Absolutely ridiculous and they were screaming at someone for doing something that they considered “against the rules” when again, it wasn’t. At least 15-20 people were there to swim and it didn’t look like any of us were having any fun with the staff.
