Clean outdoor pool that opens to the public and is free to use.
The main 25-yard pool at the Pāhoa Aquatic Center is heated, typically maintained at a comfortable temperature, often around 80-82°F (26.7-27.8°C). The separate keiki (children's) pool is generally not heated.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the pool are generally positive, highlighting its clean water, free admission, and a pleasant atmosphere suitable for children. While some found lifeguards friendly and helpful, especially during quieter morning hours when lanes are available, others strongly criticized them as rude, dismissive, and unobservant, leading to safety concerns. Facility cleanliness is mixed: women's restrooms are considered acceptable, clean, and equipped with warm showers, but men's bathrooms are consistently described as disgusting, terrible, and lacking doors. The pool's concrete bottom was noted as dingy by one visitor. Operating hours received mixed feedback, with some wishing for earlier openings and others deeming them 'terrible.' The pool is typically quiet in the mornings but becomes busy around 1 PM when temperatures rise. One incident of a broken diving board was also reported.

Visited Saturday morning at 9:15am. Lane to myself. First time here; I was very happy with the experience. Pool is clean, lifeguards nice, and it’s free. The women’s locker room is acceptable - just wear flip flops - but I do that wherever I go to swim. I asked the lifeguard how busy it gets weekday mornings and he said you can usually get a lane for yourself. It gets busy around 1pm when the weather starts getting hot; very different from swimming lap at California pools where everybody is busy with work ;). My only wish is that they would open earlier - but I really can’t complain! Also, the lockers have holes for your lock, but it seemed pretty safe in the morning to bring your stuff and leave it near your lane while you swim.
Terrible hours and the worst lifeguards of any public pool in Hawaii I have ever been to. Very rude and dismissive, as well as they do very little actual lifeguarding and watching the pool, seems more like lifeguard social club and they get annoyed if interrupted. Happened multiple times and I have kids so the fact that they are not watching the pool at all is unnerving.
Nice atmosphere, never had any problems with anybody, my kids been going there since they were babies, all around good fun
The pool is great. The water is clean and not freezing. There's lifeguards available should you need them. They are friendly. The concrete in the pool/ the bottom is a little dingy and could use the vacuum - maybe I went before they cleaned? My husband said the men's bathrooms are disgusting and terrible. I said the women's restroom is actually fine. Decently clean and doors function, warm water showers. He said men's room has no doors and is just really gross in general. Idk I didn't go in there.
Me and my two friend went to the pool super nice. The only thing was, I saw Someone jump and break the diving board because he said he was 600 pounds
