About

The Citrus Memorial Health Foundation YMCA, located at 4127 W Norvell Bryant Hwy, Lecanto, FL, is a comprehensive community wellness facility. It offers a wide array of amenities including a fitness center, group exercise studios, a gymnasium, an indoor heated pool, a seasonal outdoor pool, a splash pad, child watch services, sports fields, and a community room. This YMCA serves as a hub for health, fitness, youth development, and social responsibility within the Lecanto area.

The facility includes an indoor heated pool. While exact current temperatures may vary, YMCAs typically maintain their indoor heated pools within a comfortable range for various activities, often around 82-84°F (27.8-28.9°C). There is also a seasonal outdoor pool, which would be maintained at suitable temperatures when in operation.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The YMCA receives positive feedback for its clean facilities, the availability of children's swim lessons, and exceptional instructors like Coach Tas, who successfully helped an older adult overcome a deep fear of water. One staff member, Melissa, was particularly praised for providing outstanding and helpful customer service. However, several significant concerns were raised, including the consistently cold pool water, which some users found uncomfortable or even painful, and an perceived unfair distribution of swimming lanes. A serious safety concern was also highlighted regarding a 'creepy' individual interacting inappropriately with children during swim lessons, with criticism directed at staff's dismissive response to the issue. Additionally, a desire for more lap swimming lanes in the mornings was noted.

Lovely facility, always clean & supplies available. So important to have swim lessons available to children; only wish more lanes were available during the mornings for lap swimming. Would definitely recommend the Y to others!

I am here on vacation from NC & I have a global membership through my work & local YMCA, & Melissa was awesome helping me get my pass & information filled out for this YMCA! She was extremely nice, helpful & went out of her way to make sure I had a great experience here at this YMCA! She even saw I had a Fanny pack with my stuff in it, & she gave me a key for the small lockers in the weight room. She told me if my stuff did not fit to let her know & she would find me a lock to put my stuff in the locker room! Awesome person & great employee! Thank you so much ma’am!

Not a member, but went to swim lessons for my son. My kid's swim instructor was truly exceptional. But the big problem: There was at least 1 creepy old dude at the pool. Not good. Obviously, I pay close attention to my kid. But if we're closing an area for swim lessons then lets actually close it. Some 65+ year old guy trying to carry conversation and ask questions with kids 6-12 he doesn't know is odd. Engaging kids in conversation when he thinks parents aren't looking and the instructor is working with one kid. Slowly more over a couple days. When I spoke up and answered a question with a single word, he immediately hurriedly left while mumbling that my kid is "a good conversationalist" under his breath and fumbling around. Defintely seemed like a weirdo. Brought it up to staff. "He's just an old retired guy who likes to swim in the shade". So he picks the time of day when kids are taking lessons, swims in the area near them, and then what? Tries to befriend stranger's kids? And that's normal? How many parents were afraid to say something? At least one other parent my wife and I spoke with was uncomfortable but unwilling to say anything because she could see her kid and it was only a few days wim lessons.

I cannot thank Coach Tas at the YMCA Suncoast enough! He has truly been a blessing to our family. My 68-year-old mother, Patty M., started swimming lessons with him in June, and what he’s accomplished with her is nothing short of amazing! She had a deep fear of the water after a traumatic near-drowning experience years ago. She was terrified, even getting into the pool was a big deal. But Coach Tas was incredibly patient, kind, and encouraging. He gave her the confidence she needed to push past her fear, relax, and actually learn to swim… at 68 years old! Now, she’s not just swimming, she’s having the time of her life! Every lesson is full of smiles and excitement. Thank you, Coach Tas, for your heart, your dedication, and your incredible teaching. You’ve changed her life, and we are beyond grateful! 🙌🏽💙🏊‍♀️

It is sad that this YMCA does not take into consideration how many people cannot get into cold water because it is so cold. Rarely is it tolerable but when it is at a tolerable temp, you may initially feel cold but it feels good after a few minutes. I was there and shivered for 45 minutes and nevered stop shivering. Only 1 person can swim in a lane but when there are a group of people who just want to enjoying the pool but they are forced to swim sometimes with 10 other people. How is that fair 10 people get 2 laps and if you are a swimmer it is 1 person per lap. I believe everyone should be considered so warm the water up and please give us equal lanes. Your pool water was so cd Saturday that I suffered two days in pain.
