Charitable organization offering youth programs, a fitness center, swimming, and classes.
While specific temperatures are not prominently published on their website, the YMCA of Indiana County typically features two main pools. The lap pool, designed for lap swimming and water fitness, is generally maintained at a cooler temperature, often around 80-82°F (26-28°C). The program or teaching pool, used for lessons, therapy, and recreational family swim, is usually kept warmer, typically ranging from 88-90°F (31-32°C).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews present a mixed picture of the organization. Many users appreciate the gym facilities, the track loop, pool classes, and the general friendliness and knowledge of most staff. The organization is commended for its involvement in community youth and providing a safe environment, with excitement for planned facility upgrades. However, there are significant negative experiences, particularly concerning infant swim classes and children's birthday parties. These issues include unproductive lessons, late or rushing instructors, unprepared venues failing to deliver promised activities, negligent event coordination, and wasted money. A major recurring complaint is exceptionally poor customer service, characterized by unresponsive management, a lack of transparency, and difficulty in resolving issues.

I just came here for the track loop. It was nice, there's a little stream along the side. They had the total eclipse I went to on April 8th 2024. Too bad it was mostly cloudy, but it was free to attend and you got glasses to use.
We have been trying for weeks to get a resolution regarding our swim class for our 9month old. After several friends we gave the intro swim lessons a try. The first lesson we floated around and “interacted” with the “instructor” once. We gave another lesson a try giving it the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it was an opportunity to get acclimated. Both were nothing like what we had been told. In fact the second lesson the instructor was 6 minutes late getting the pool set and people in and then was rushing people out at 6:29 before it was even the full time (6:30). When we mentioned it to the front desk they indicated many others had already complained before us. We were given the program managers number and have called, left voicemails, and several emails. We have been contact once and it was informing us their normal instructor was out and that they’d be returning please try another lesson. We have now had 3 of our lessons wasted. Now we are constantly run around by different people who basically tell us the only person who can help is the unreachable manager. At this point I’m not even convinced they work considering the variety of times we have called and they “aren’t in.” I would not recommend any classes here if you value your money, customer service, and transparency. To date we are still being given the run around.
Have been involved with the organization for years but only started to actively using the gym recently. My 14 y/o daughter goes with me. We love it and are excited about the many great enhancements coming
DO NOT BOOK A CHILD'S BIRTHDAY PARTY HERE!! I would give zero stars if google would let me. Imagine worst case scenario - you show up and they are not prepared and do not deliver anything they promised. I will say the staff in hand was incredibly accommodating; however, the event girl is completely negligent. She refused to communicate. Her email email apparently never works. Somehow her lack of email also prevents her from answering general questions by phone. Still trying to figure out how that is even logical. Regardless, there was no gym or activity for my toddlers party. Instead the children had to play with old, junky toys in a makeshift childcare center. I was mortified and wanted to hide We were able to find a room to stage for guests and food. We literally had to vacuum and clean with the staff so it was decent for guests. I was beyond prepared, but that made no difference when the venue did not deliver on their end. Again, the girls on staff that night tried to do everything they could to help the disaster, but it was unsalvageable. Literally ruined a three year olds special day, months of planning, and hundreds of dollars.
I’m at the YMCA four days a week with one of my clients. He loves to exercise and is a big fan of the pool classes! The staff are, for the most part, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The ymca is highly involved in the community’s youth and provide a safe and positive place for kids. Mack park pool is equally supportive of kids. The Y and Mack park are beginning phase 1 of a massive upgrading plan and I’m excited to see the final results. Thank you YMCA staff for all you do!
