What are people saying (AI review summary)? The Dog Dive elicits mixed reviews, largely centering on the exceptional quality of service from owner Beth, contrasted with significant operational and maintenance issues. Clients consistently laud Beth's expertise, caring approach, and deep understanding of dog behavior, especially with nervous dogs, senior pets, and those recovering from ailments like arthritis or chemotherapy. Many dogs are reported to love their swim sessions, experiencing improved confidence and physical benefits, with special mention of Beth's provision of allergy-friendly treats. However, numerous negative comments highlight poor facility maintenance, describing the pool and main space as unclean. Major challenges are also reported regarding scheduling and communication, including unanswered phones, full voicemails, a non-functional online booking system, and appointments cancelled without notification. These operational shortcomings, including limited access for new or occasional clients, have led some long-term patrons to express disappointment and no longer recommend the business, despite the highly praised individual care from Beth.
Reviews
We have been off and on clients at The Dog Dive since 2018. The owners, Beth and Darryl, have been through a lot and their business reflects that. The pool and the main space are no longer well maintained, and it’s been nearly impossible to schedule appointments because they rarely answer the phone and the voicemail has been full for months. They have online scheduling software that encourages customers to set appointments on their website, but it is currently not functional. Over a year ago we actually made an appointment over the phone, but when we showed up, we discovered they had decided to close for the day and never notified us. While our dog enjoyed his swim with Beth, we were disappointed in the experience overall. The Dog Dive has always felt a smidge rough around the edges, but today it just felt very unclean. When we were leaving we attempted to make another appointment and it seems like regular clients with standing appointments take up the available morning slots, leaving new or occasional clients with no access. The Dog Dive is the only indoor canine pool in our community and we unfortunately can no longer recommend it.
Dog Dive has been an exceptional find. My lab has benefited from water therapy for 2 years now. The owners do such a good job working with our Maggie.
Wonderful and caring experience for our rescue staffy recovering from chemo and advance arthritis in her hips. She LOVES going for a swim with Beth.
My only advice is to CALL and schedule. Don't book online. Otherwise, I cannot recommend this place enough! I would drive across the state, the country, the globe to have my dog swim here! Beth had a variety of treats for dogs to use during their swimming lessons. My boy has severe food allergies and can only have salmon/fish cookies, so this made a great first impression! My dog isn't nervous, but he can be frightful in new situations. Beth saw his heart right away. She met him where he was, pushed when he could handle it, and let him breathe when he needed it. Her extensive training in dog behavior did not go unnoticed! She was so in-tune with his body language and cues. She knows what she's doing, 110%. After our session, my pup was confident, happy, and proud of himself for his hard and brave work overcoming his nerves around the pool. He was practically swimming laps around me at the end! We can't wait to come back.
We love Beth and Dog Dive ❤️ I've been taking my oldest here for swim therapy for a while now. At 14, her swim days are the highlights of her week. She knows when my rash guard goes on, it's time to go see her buddy and get in the pool. Highly recommend bringing your senior dogs especially as it is such a relief to give their joints a reprieve from gravity with a fun activity they enjoy.
