About

Public facility with pools and a climbing wall, as well as fitness classes and a party room.

The lap pool at Mission Valley Aquatics is typically maintained at a temperature between 79-81 degrees Fahrenheit. The warm-water therapy pool is kept at a warmer temperature, generally ranging from 90-92 degrees Fahrenheit.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The Montana Aquatic Center (MVA) receives mixed feedback, with many appreciating it as a valuable community asset for its cleanliness, well-maintained therapeutic and lap pools, and the availability of aquatic classes. Some positive experiences highlight friendly staff and reasonable hours. However, significant criticisms are frequently voiced, primarily concerning its operational aspects. High membership costs, including a substantial sign-up fee, are a major point of contention, with many finding them prohibitive, particularly given the MVA's non-profit status. Strict rules, especially those governing children's swimming (requiring an adult in the water for those under 14 or specific swim test criteria), are perceived as overly restrictive, leading some families to discontinue their visits. A notably negative account details allegations of staff misinformation, rude and discriminatory remarks from management and lifeguards, perceived harassment, and denial of amenities (like the diving board), resulting in a profoundly negative experience for one family, which also raised claims of racial discrimination. While the facility acknowledges high operating costs as a non-profit, these issues collectively impact overall customer satisfaction.

MVA is a wonderful asset to our community.. As a native Montanan.. growing up in a smaller community …with a love of swimming..we could have only have dreamed of a facility like this. We have lived near Polson since 1993 and remember how hard people worked, over decades, with many failed attempts, to make this facility a reality… Pools are expensive to operate and unfortunately costs have increased. It is not a city pool.. it is run as a nonprofit which differs from pools in most communities. The price increase has been unpopular, but a reality of keeping the organization solvent. Blending a clientele from 2-92 is also a challenge.given the heavy use of the therapy pool and keeping all people safe. Liability and insurance costs are high and rules are not always popular, but a reality. The pool and facilities are very clean.. the staff is friendly… hours are reasonable…. So grateful for MVA.

July 10 2025 4:40 p.m. This is not a miscommunication this was a derict statement that was made to me by an employee at your facility in polson,Mt. First I was told by the swimming pool employee that the open swimming hours are from 12 pm To 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and they can use the jumping board during open swimming hours, so with that information told to me on the phone by the swimming pool employee, I decided to bring my family to swim because my family members said they want to go to the swimming pool and jump off of the jumping board, so we get to the swimming pool and they ask to jump off the jumping and are told no, so because of that fraudulent statement that was made to me by the swimming pool facility employee on the phone my family can not use the jumping board and have a bad memory. This maybe a small and not a big problem to the manager and the staff but my family members memories and fun time is a big problem, also the female manager that day said to me, you keep filing complaints every time you're here, by her saying that to me is legal grounds for discrimination. I said that is a fraudulent statement I only wrote one complaint and that was for racist or discrimination complaint and we have been here multiple times they can look up are visits and how many complaints I made, also the life guard said no to my female member that can't do a swim test to swim on the deep end. So I said both of male family members passed the swim test and she did nothing so I said can you write down there names and look them up because we come here to swim and make a good memory and we keep getting harassed when my family wants to have fun and make good memories. It should be all on video surveillance, If this type of treatment doesn't exist with any one else at this facility and doesn't have any documented evidence of this ever happening. And we are the only family with evidence of this happening to an native American family than it would be an racist act towards me and my family members. At 6:50 pm we asked to jump off of the diving board and the manager said no, the whole purpose of why we are here and we keep getting told no the swim team was gone the swim session was gone there was multiple people in the pool still and the manager said no still and they where confined to a little corner which was about a 10 foot by 10 foot corner area of the whole swimming facility it's all on video surveillance. I forgot to mention the female manager said you should go somewhere else. Me and my family have never been treated with such ugly and awful acts from the life guard said and the female manager.

Well, the facilities and staff are nice, but $55 per month, plus $55 sign up fee is a pretty ridiculous price. $110 for the first month? I don't know many people in the area that could afford that, especially since you're a non profit already.

I am sad to give this review especially when my tax payer dollars support this place. When taking my kids there today I hadn't planned on getting in because having a small child, but planned on watching my kids from the side. Unfortunately they won't let anyone under 14 swim without an adult in the water without passing the swim test. My 6 year old who can touch in the shallow end and who swims with his life jacket and me sitting on the side was not allowed. My 8 year old didn't pass their swim test because he wasn't bringing his arms high enough out of the water for his test, even though he easily made it from one end to the other without a life jacket. He also only wanted to swim in the shallow end where he could easily touch. Probably won't be back honestly.
