What are people saying (AI review summary)? Makai Golf Club is highly praised for both its golf course and sunset tour. The golf course is consistently lauded for its breathtaking scenic views of mountains, jungle, and ocean, with challenging and picturesque par 3s. Its condition is frequently described as exceptional, with well-maintained greens, fairways, tee boxes, and bunkers, along with carts equipped with GPS. Many consider it a 'must-play' and among the best courses in Hawaii, often outshining others. While the standard golf rates can be steep, discounted access makes it more appealing. Minor criticisms include occasional inconsistent service, confusing parking, and instances where only nine holes were available without prior notice, impacting perceived value. The sunset tour is recommended as a fun, family-friendly activity, featuring experienced guides who provide informative insights into the local history, views, and wildlife.

This is the second time for our family to do the Makai Golf Club sunset tour. The cost is about $120 per couple with tax (only two allowed to a golf cart). Your tour is about an hour and half to two hours and you visit various places along their huge land mass. At each stop, an experienced tour guide talks about the history, views, trees, flowers and wildlife. It’s a fun event for kids and adults alike. Here’s a few shots from our recent experience.

Makai Golf Club is a must if you ever visit Princeville. Princeville is a must if ever visit Kauai. If you play golf, then you’ll agree with me. If you don’t play golf, then make this the birthplace of your first golf course -it will be a lifetime happy memory. The beautiful view from mountain to beach, the great coaches who make the experience easy.

We went end of November early December rates were 250 per person which is a bit steep but the resort we stayed at had buy one get one free so 125 was awesome. First off the driving range was in phenomenal shape. Had to rent clubs which were last years callaway epic set so a good set and didnt seem to have much wear and tear on them. The greens are fast and true very soft and very very well taken care of. The tee boxes were just as good no dead spots the carts are equipped with GPS which was a really nice addition and very helpful having never played here before. The fairways were in great shape as well sand traps were perfect although placed in bad spots....and by bad spots I simply mean I couldnt stay out of them because I'm not that good. The par 3s had amazing views and most of them you jave to fly over a canyon to hit the almost island greens mentally looking at it makes it much tougher to hit the green than it really is but that's part of it. Overall the course is breathtaking views all over front 9 is more mountains and jungle in the back ground back 9 is all ocean views. Overall though amazing course and well worth the price to play once in a lifetime for the views alone let alone the shape of the course I can only imagine peak season how good this course plays and all fairways are quite wide open shouldn't loose much except on par 3s

We ended up playing the front 9 twice. I don't recall any mention of this when I booked earlier in the year, but the pop up was present when I checked the day we played. Great course with scenic views. The course was in the best condition of any course I've played in Hawaii. It was fun the see all the nene and albatross around the course. Great canyon shots and the greens were excellent. This course far outshined poipu and Hokulua. The service was a bit lacking. There was zero assistance once we were finished. And the parking was confusing. They had hand placed A frame signs up saying to get a parking pass or be towed, and the golf shop said don't worry about it. If / when we return, this will be the only course we play on Kauai. The fees weren't bad, but still far more expensive than oahu. I really feel like the fees should have been reduced for only offering half a course. GHIN / Arccos submissions don't really work well on only 9 holes.

This Golf Course is one of the most nicest, prestigious places I’ve ever played. The place was in tip top shape. From the fairways, bunkers and greens absolutely gorgeous! The golf cart has to the pin yardage and music also! The seats are so comfortable. I couldn’t believe I got to play there. Thank you for such an amazing experience!
