We love Copperas Cove Parks and Recreation Department! They do so much work behind-the-scenes to make events possible. Special shout out for Caycee and Staff on Saturday, who responded and provided first aid assistance to our entrepreneurial 13 yr old son (a vendor at the park) who got stung by a bee (To some, that might be a very small thing, but to me as a parent, that was a great show of care). They also kindly helped us move the stand to a different location, thus, enabled him to still have a successful day. Thank you all for your thoughtfulness. Also, I am grateful for parks and recreation departments vision to help grow the high school age youth with being umpires, staff, etc. I’m sure that it could be just as easy to hire contracted umpires, but having high school aged umpires provides an excellent learning opportunity to be able to make the best possible decisions on plays under pressure AND regardless of pressure from coaches or criticism from unthoughtful spectators. It’s definitely a character building opportunity that will strengthen them and their lifetime! I hope that the parents of the youth baseball players can catch onto the vision perhaps their youth might have that same unique opportunity for growth and development.
Worst orginazation on the planet. They don't know what they're doing, they don't know how to schedule anything. This place needs to be shut down and our money refunded back to every parent from 10 years ago
The people that work at Parks and recreation really are doing the best possible job that they can. When it comes to giving the kids a good experience in sports they will bend over backwards to do their best within reason. Keeping in mind that all of the sports through Parks and rec are city Ball and not select. My kids really do enjoy all the sports we have participated in thus far. Copperas Cove may have a lot of problems but I feel like when it comes to Parks and rec the people are truly what's making the experiences for the kids possible.
Over the years I've had my complaints as a coach. However, the staff are really great. Casey is on top of her job and she ensures that the kids are safe and having fun. Jake and many others there have a passion for the kids. They work extremely long hours and the coaches and parents need to be thankful for the program. Without the program our kids would not have a place to learn and grow in sportsmanship. The staff have poured into our kids and have kept many from getting into trouble. We are blessed to have such caring people and I'm so thankful for them.
If Copperas Cove had nothing else to see or do, this park alone would make it worth living here. My kids and I love coming here and enjoying the park (for kids AND dogs), the pool, the walking trails, and the duck pond! To top it off, it seems like every other weekend there's a great event going on that is always affordable and lots of fun.
