What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for Avalon golf course present a mixed picture. While some players appreciate the generally good pace of play, friendly staff, included range balls, and a well-regarded on-site restaurant, significant concerns exist regarding the course's condition and value. Many found the recent $85 green fee unreasonable, citing issues like 'poor green shape,' 'terrible tee boxes,' a perceived lack of maintenance, and faulty golf cart brake locks. Some feel the course does not deliver a premium experience commensurate with its premium price, suggesting it would be rated higher if priced more appropriately. In contrast, a first-time visitor reported that the tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in good shape, with top-notch carts and a nice clubhouse, deeming it 'well worth the money.' Cart paths were noted as needing improvement, and the cafe is closed on Mondays.

Course was in pretty decent shape despite it being winter. I do like how range balls are included in the green fees for non members. Pace of play was good and the greens were in good shape for the most part. Couple illegal pin placements and fast greens made it challenging. The cafe is closed on Mondays so not having a hot dog at the turn was a bummer
I’ve played at Avalon several times over the past year. The course has usually been in decent shape—not great, but acceptable for the $50–$55 price tag. However, I played there today (6/20/25) and was shocked to be charged $85. That price is completely unreasonable given the current condition of the course. Some of the greens are in poor shape, and most of the tee boxes are in terrible condition. It doesn’t seem like much is being done to maintain or improve the course. On top of that, most of the golf carts have brake locks that don’t even work, which is both frustrating and a safety concern. Earlier this week, I played at Fairfield Glade, where the courses are immaculate. They charge around $90–$95, and it’s well worth it because the quality and upkeep are clearly top-notch. Avalon, on the other hand, is charging a premium rate without delivering a premium experience. If they’re going to charge $85, it should at least feel like the money is being reinvested in the course. Right now, it doesn’t.
One of the best restaurants in the area. If you play golf it’s a must stop. I’ve had many great meals here over the years The Salmon salad was outstanding. Fresh Jalapeños made a great touch. The salmon was cooked to perfection. I’ll be back!
Avalon is one of the nicest courses in the area for sure. Though the course isn’t in stellar condition by any means, not for the expensive green fee at least. Scheduled tee times have also been a big congested mess some days. Nonetheless, a very fun course with great staff and members! If priced more appropriately I could see 5-Stars.
Really enjoyed this course! First timer. Normally I don’t leave reviews at places, but after the terrible recent reviews I read about this course, I wanted to be sure to share my thoughts. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are in good shape. The cart path could use some TLC - pretty rough. The carts are top notch. Clubhouse is nice along with the amenities available. Staff is friendly and helpful. My boyfriend and I have visited many golf courses and I think if we were to decide on getting a membership somewhere it would most likely be here. Well worth the money IMO!
