About

Well-known spot for indoor & outdoor swimming pools as well as diving events.

While specific real-time temperatures are not publicly detailed, aquatic centers typically maintain pools within standard ranges. The competition pool is generally kept cooler, around 78-82°F (25-28°C), for optimal athletic performance. The leisure pool is usually warmer for comfort, often in the 82-86°F (28-30°C) range. The hot tub/spa is maintained at a significantly higher temperature, typically between 100-104°F (38-40°C).

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The University of Tennessee Aquatic Center is largely lauded as a beautiful, modern, and state-of-the-art facility, featuring a top-notch 50-meter competition pool, diving well, and ample spectator seating. Reviewers often highlight its central location, accessibility, and the quality of hosted events, which are typically well-organized and enjoyable. General staff are described as friendly, knowledgeable, and hospitable. However, feedback on security is mixed; while some appreciate the overall security, one specific incident detailed highly unprofessional and aggressive behavior from a 'lead security guard' during an event. A significant complaint also concerns the facility's restrictive access policy, with alumni expressing frustration over being unable to use the pools for a fee without being a current student or staff member.

It’s a great facility, and I swam there for swim teams in elementary and high school. I also used the facility after joining the swim club while attending the university. I only give this rating because unless you are a current student or staff member, you cannot utilize this facility unless you have a guest pass and accompaniment by a current student. One would think with 2 large aquatic facilities in addition to a rather large outdoor pool, people that aren’t current staff or a student could at least pay a fee to use Allen Jones for lap swim. I’m an alumni and am afforded no access to this facility.

Attended the 2025 GKAISA Championship Swim Meet at UT Aquatic Center. It was a 3 day event, and was very well done. Dozens of races for hundreds of kids and it was pretty much on schedule all 3 days. Very enjoyable.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the University of Tennessee Aquatic Center, and I must say I was thoroughly impressed! The facility is absolutely beautiful and modern, with state-of-the-art equipment and amenities. The indoor 50-meter competition pool and diving well with platforms and springboards are top-notch, and the seating for up to 1,200 spectators is perfect for enjoying events. I also appreciated how centrally located the Aquatic Center is downtown, making it easily accessible for both visitors and locals alike. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the programs and classes offered were comprehensive and tailored to a variety of skill levels. Overall, my experience at the University of Tennessee Aquatic Center was fantastic. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch aquatic facility that offers a range of activities and programs.

I am not one to leave a negative review unless it’s warranted, and will absolutely say, the facility itself is TOP notch. This review is low strictly because of 1 of your security people.. We traveled 3 hours from home to cheer on our team for the 2025 TISCA state swim meet. We were very aware of the clear bag policy and completely abided by the rule. When we arrived, there was a “lead security guard” who was basically looking for any reason not to let people in. She came through the line and told an elderly lady in front of us that she needed to return her purse to her car. The poor woman was not able and we offered to help her. Another more kind security gentleman inspected this woman’s purse and allowed her to enter. Then the “lead” came to my group and started hitting my clear bag and yelling at me, “no outside food or drinks”! She hit my (clear) bag at least 4 times before I asked her to stop. 2 out of my group of 4 have dietary restrictions, but she did not care. We had just traveled from our hometown, to support our team, and pretty much felt attacked. This woman lacked professionalism, kindness and manners. I honestly did NOT appreciate this “lead”hitting, or even touching, my belongings. I paid in advance for tickets and drove quite a distance to see a swim meet and, in return, felt completely berated.
