Park with picnic tables that's good for kids.
As a spray park, Catlin Rotary Spray Park utilizes unheated water features rather than a traditional swimming pool. Therefore, specific maintained pool temperatures are not applicable or provided. The water temperature would generally be ambient, reflecting the temperature of the source water (typically tap water) and the surrounding air and ground conditions.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews indicate significant frustration with the park's prolonged closure (nearly 3 years) due to perceived city incompetence, leaving children without a place to cool off in hot weather. When the splash pad is open, it is generally appreciated for being a safe, close, and shaded spot for families to enjoy a picnic. However, specific feedback includes the water being very cold, and a need for improved accessibility features, particularly for restrooms and water controls, for individuals with disabilities.
Reviews
I am changing my review to 1 star. This park has been closed for nearly 3 years due to gross incompetence by the city of Kelso. We had a warm winter and they could of done this months ago and we would have a place to take our kids to cool off instead we're still waiting and it's going to be 90° today with no way to cool off.
Really unfortunate the city can’t figure out how to open this park.
Very nice splash pad! However the water is VERY cold, like getting squirted with the garden hose temperature. As it is likely straight out of the Longview/Kelso water supply, so I for forgive them for that. It was my daughter’s first experience with a serious splash pad,as the only splash pad in our hometown is in the town swimming pool, is just a couple of jets, and mostly targeted at toddlers and mobile infants. They also heat up the water, so my daughter was kinda expecting that.
Always love bringing my kids here! It's close, safe, and has shade for me. We usually bring a picnic lunch and make an afternoon of it!
Friendly and accessibility for those with disabilities who use a walker or even manual chair need to work on access to public restroom's and more friendly buttons to control the water for those that can't turn valve's.
