Outdoor swimming pool with competitive events, lifeguards, and a snack bar.
Specific, publicly stated temperatures for the pools at the John W. Black Aquatic Center are not readily available. As a large outdoor seasonal facility, pool temperatures are generally maintained at comfortable levels suitable for recreational swimming during the summer months, influenced by ambient weather conditions, rather than being heated to a precise, constant temperature.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The aquatic center receives mixed reviews, highlighting both positive and negative experiences. Patrons generally praise the 'fantastic' zero-entry kiddie pool, a main pool with a rock wall and lap lanes (when open), attentive lifeguards, ample seating, and generous parking. Some find the bathrooms clean and spacious. However, significant concerns include limited operating hours (12-7 PM), a general lack of shade, and poor concessions (mainly candy). Several reviewers noted that only half the waterpark was operational, with lap lanes and fountains closed, and the waterslide being a disappointment. A major point of criticism involves unruly behavior from other patrons, including safety incidents in the baby pool and general complaints about 'disgusting' bathrooms and a perceived decline in overall quality, leading some to suggest stricter ID checks or resident-only access. Entry fees are structured by age.

Great spot! A few things to know: Cost - Cost each visit (unless you prepay the membership or reserve for group) by age: 0-2: Free, 3-12: $7, 13-59: $9, 60+: $5 Hours are 12-7… which with small kids is kind of a bummer you can’t go earlier but it is what it is! Kiddie pool- FANTASTIC. Zero entry pool (like it gradually gets deeper/walk in). Great area for smaller kids and kids learning to swim as it’s all shallow. Bring some small pool toys to play with. Big kid/adult pool- rock wall in the pool is pretty neat! We had fun. This pool is warmer than the kiddie pool thankfully. There’s a special lane for lap swimmers too. Concessions- don’t bother unless you want candy. Bring your own drink (no glass) and just enjoy a couple hours in the sun instead! Shade- there is none for the most part. Bring the sunscreen! Enjoy!
We took our 9 and 7 year old for the first time, today. It's a GREAT aquatic park! There was plenty of seats and the lifeguards were very attentive. The snack bar staff was very nice. We will be back.
OC aquatic center has gone way down. The people OMG!! Most are not even from OC. And it shows. So I believe if you don’t live in OC. Shouldn’t be allowed to enter. PERIOD!! Start checking ID’s. After today’s experience. I will not be taking nieces and nephews there O has to get the manager twice. This parent which was a complete idiot was throwing football with his teenage boys in the baby section. Almost hit my 8 month old niece. Then his ignorant kids started cussing me out. And the dad just laughed. I don’t that’s how we raise our kids out here in OC. Keep the TRASH out of our pools. The bathrooms are disgusting. Hopefully management steps in. And sets some boundaries
Only half the Waterpark was open, the "lap lanes" for actual swimming are closed, the founta8ns for the kids are Off, but the waterside is extremely disappointing for oldham county. Should rename it oldham county wading pool.
Lots of parking. Everything is clean. The bathrooms are nice and big. Lots of places to sit or layout. Lots of lifeguards. So fun for me and the kids
