While specific pool temperatures for the YMCA of Harrison County are not publicly listed, YMCAs generally maintain their main swimming pools at a comfortable temperature, typically in the range of 82-84°F (28-29°C), to accommodate a variety of activities from lap swimming to water aerobics and youth lessons. Specialized instructional or therapy pools, if available, may be slightly warmer.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? This YMCA receives mixed reviews, with many praising its cleanliness, well-maintained facilities and equipment, and the friendly, welcoming staff. Members appreciate the variety of adult classes and organized sports, which are particularly beneficial for families and homeschoolers. The baby center is also noted positively. However, significant criticisms include a substantial price increase (40%) for members turning 26, described as 'price gouging' for what some consider mediocre equipment, and a lack of flexible membership options (e.g., weights-only). A major recurring issue is the inconsistent application of nationwide memberships, with adults sometimes allowed but children denied access to childcare or events, leading to frustrating customer service experiences.

Giving 3.5 because staff is good and the baby center seems good and it’s a clean place. Been going here my entire life and have to stop because I can’t condone being price gouged. I cannot believe this “Christian facility” has a markup price same as the rest of the corrupt world that hurts young adults. I just turned 26, they upped my bill 40% For mediocre equipment too. That is mind blowing. 32 to 53$ because I turned 26. It’s not this facility’s fault I’m sure it’s YMCA entirely but it’s outrageous. And you can’t just sign up to use weights to help with pricing, i don’t care about the pool or basketball. Just weights, doesn’t matter 53$.
The absolute worse YMCA I have ever visited. We have the nationwide membership for our family and have never had a problem until this one. The gym itself takes nationwide memberships but they won't let your kids in unless your a member only to this one in particular. Doesn't matter if your nationwide. Also my kid had a swim meet here and they told us to bring chairs and then refused to let us bring chairs. The customer service was so bad. Edit to add since I can't reply to the owner. I directly asked the people at the front guest and said how is it our family has a nationwide membership and we can't use it here. She said that the gym does allow it for adults but the childcare center does not as they do not have access to the nationwide database for the childcare area.
My family has enjoyed this YMCA for over a decade and appreciate the services they offer. The inside lap pool is often busy during prime hours but if you come during the day you can usually find an open lane with no problem. The heated pool is smaller but offers a great place to relax and soak. The facility is clean and the equipment is maintenance well. The staff have always been friendly and welcoming. They offer a variety of schedule classes and organized seasonal outdoor recreational sports. As a homeschool family this has been a nice resource for sports activities/groups.
I almost don't want to leave a review, because I don't want to attract more people to crowd the place. We love this YMCA. I really love all the adult classes. The Refit class is great. They're all great.
The facility is always very clean and well kept. Employees are very kind and will ask how you are. Exercise equipment is all in good condition. The people who generally come to the Harrison County Y are usually always kind, though the company cannot help this, it’s a nice bonus when the people regularly visiting are kind as well. If you’re looking for a good membership somewhere, especially with opportunities to be more than just any gym. I’d recommend it.
