Our experience at Great Wolf Lodge was okay. We chose this resort for the amenities and activities geared to our 3 and 5 year old. They loved the yoga, story time, bingo, and clock show. Staff was friendly. There’s plenty of food options, and the waterpark is great. My only concern was the rooms. We chose one with a queen(really it’s a full bed), and a separate area with a bunk that our five year old was very excited about. When we got to our room, the balcony was closed and locked off due to construction. We chose this room so that my husband and I could go out on the balcony while the kids were sleeping and we wouldn’t have to be extra quiet, that was no longer an option. We did contact management and they made it right. My next concern was the loudness from the people above us. Never while staying in a hotel have I experienced noise like this- loud constant banging, creakiness, and running across my ceiling. It went on until at least midnight one night and then again at 7am and this is how we woke up. Absolutely ridiculous. (I posted a video on it, you can see it on the google maps reviews) Minus the room inconveniences, we had a good stay.
Hey! I read the reviews before I went up and they are so mixed I wanted to give it a chance. It was my husband, my two kids and me. We stayed in a two queen, one pull out bed room with a fireplace and patio. First of all, the beds are not queens they are fulls ( no big deal but come on don’t lie) the pull out bed was the same size as our beds. But overall the room was decent, had a good amount of space and the patio was bigger. The patio was nice but it’s supposed to be a smoke free facility (which I know they cannot control if someone smokes) but everyone seemed to be smoking on their porches which sucked. When we checked in the staff seemed unimpressed that people were coming and non-understanding of any questions we asked. She seemed irritated and when we did ask about the passes we got (birthday bash, breakfast pass, and family fun and food) we weren’t really given any information and if she did answer our questions it was not the same information given when I booked back in February or called on Friday. We paid the hold and parking at time of check in only giving authorization for one card to be charged, yet at 2am the following day they charged my other card on file a hold too for $200 also, when we went to ask about that we were given an indirect answer that still left us confused. The staff in bear paw are unprofessional and were gossiping about everyone who came in Spanish. Most staff seemed very dismissive and not wanting to help. Going to the gift shop was hit or miss, most employees didn’t want to help you and were rude. The water park was pretty awesome, decently clean, life guard regulated and helpful.
We were very disappointed with our stay at Great Wolf Lodge Wisconsin Dells. Our room was located right by the entrance, and every single night we heard knocking sounds on the wall. It was impossible to sleep, especially for our child. The room itself was not clean — the towels were stained, the carpet was dirty, and the chairs were both uncomfortable to sit on and had stains on them, which was disgusting. The room door also had issues; it was very hard to open and close, and it felt unsafe and unsecured. On top of that, the pool was a huge disappointment. There was no security system at all — basically anyone from outside the hotel could come in and use it. For a place that advertises itself as a safe, family-friendly resort, this was very concerning. We have stayed at the Minneapolis Great Wolf location before and had a much better experience. Compared to that, the Wisconsin Dells location was a major disappointment. For the price we paid, this stay was completely unacceptable. We expected a clean, safe, and comfortable family experience, but instead it was stressful and very disappointing.
My 8 year old and I had a blast. I highly recommend getting the wolf package add on, but be prepared to spend a lot here. We got $5 free play in the arcade which turned into spending an additional almost $60 on more credits. You get a build a bear with the wolf package but had to spend extra on outfit. But what can I say...its the Dells and everything is expensive here. :) This is a great resort/hotel for kids. Lots of free activities for the younger kids...my daughter didn't really want to do any because she was feeling too shy/old but they looked like a lot of fun. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lots of lifeguards at the waterpark and they seemed very attentive. Can't wait to come back.
We stayed last week for a night and to say the least we were disappointed. Black mold on the ceiling and walls of the bathroom, carpet was full of stains and torn up. Entry way to our suite had not been cleaned in a long time as there were crumbs and dirt all over. Also had blood/snot on the walls. The pool area could use a cleaning and some maintenance. In the toddler area none of the water toys worked, almost like there was a lack of water pressure. It also appears I was double charged for the breakfast package on the bill. For what these rooms cost a night you would think they would be better maintained. Very disappointing to spend our hard earned money on a place that is a health hazard. EDIT 8/6: Reached out by email as directed on 7/31. I have yet to get any response from anyone at Great Wolf.
