The Douglass Family Aquatic Center, located at 400 N Providence Rd, Columbia, MO 65203, USA, is a popular family-friendly public aquatic facility. Operated by Columbia Parks and Recreation, it features a large main pool, lap lanes, diving boards, a significant water slide, a sprayground/splash pad, and a zero-depth entry area, offering recreational swimming and fun for all ages.
Specific pool temperatures for the Douglass Family Aquatic Center are not consistently published or readily available. However, public aquatic centers typically maintain their pools at comfortable temperatures for swimmers.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? This public pool is highly praised for its extremely affordable entry fee of $1.50, offering excellent value compared to other local pools. Popular features include a great slide, a cool climbing wall in the deep end, and a splash pad that's sometimes part of the entry or open after hours for free. Reviewers consistently commend the attentive lifeguards and staff. Snacks are reasonably priced, and there's a shallow end suitable for younger children. However, there are several significant drawbacks: there is no on-site parking, requiring visitors to park at Douglas Park and walk through an area described as high-crime and with homeless individuals. The pool also lacks some amenities found at more expensive pools, has limited shade (only one large cabana), and some provided life jackets are in need of replacement. A recent review also expresses frustration that the pool has been closed for the current summer season as of early July.

This pool does not have some of the amenities that some of the other public pools have in the city, but the price is compensated for that. For a buck 50 at the door, it’s a hard deal to beat! The slide is great, and we have had great interactions with all of the lifeguards. The climbing wall at the deep end is pretty cool too. The treats and snacks are reasonably priced, and my children absolutely look forward to coming here multiple times across the summer months.
Great local swimming pool. The current price for entry is $1.50, unlike the others in town charging up to $5. So definitely something the family can do at a low cost to stay cool over the summer. The only drawback to this pool is that there is NO PARKING available at this location. You would have to park at the parking area provided for Douglas Park and walk through the park (which is full of homeless people) to the pool to swim. It is in a high crime area of town so be for warned. But anything near downtown is high crime, in my opinion, for Columbia. Also, when the pool closes down. Part of it becomes a splash park for after-hours family play. And that is free to the public.
Great pool, costs $1.50 for everyone over a 1 year old. Staff is great and the lifeguards keep a good eye on the kids. The slide is awesome, but the little climbing wall is my favorite.
Lots of inexpensive fun. Shallow end for the little kiddos. Life jackets are there, but many need to be replaced. So bring your own. Not much shade, there’s one big cabana with tables. Lifeguards are attentive when on duty, they don’t allow horse play. There’s a rock climbing wall you ascend then you can drop off into the pool, a splash pad open as part of the entry fee, big slide you must be 48” to go on it. No exceptions. Near by is a nice park, a couple of large pavilions, a great climbing structure and the splash pad is open even if the pool isn’t.
We love this pool for the last 4 year my grandchildren and I have gone at least 3times a week. We hate that it hasn’t been open this summer. Oakland pool is nice but WAY crowded we have only been swimming once this whole summer. We have been waiting for July 1, and here it is July 3 and the Wes site still says closed.
