What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews generally praise the recreational facilities. Swimming pools are highly rated for being clean, large, rarely crowded, and affordable ($1 admission with reasonable concessions). Lifeguards are noted as friendly and very attentive, ensuring safety for children. The parks are described as super nice, lovely, offering a wide variety of playground equipment for all ages, amazing views (like the Neosho River from a bluff), and good amenities such as restrooms, water fountains, and covered picnic areas. However, a significant drawback is the hiking path at Riverside Park, which is deemed dangerous due to crumbling steps, broken/missing/unstable railings, unsafe 'bridges' made of old phone poles, and a general need for cleaning (trash and overgrowth). One review also mentioned concerns about perceived favoritism in local police work and a 'small town mindset' that might not offer enough for older children.

Great place to swim. Friendly staff and the lifeguards are very attentive.
It was just a struggle for me all around. The city workers and such are incredibly nice but there was definitely favoritism involved in some of the police work with locals. All around I'd say it's a pretty great place to race a kid till they're 10 or so. After that they need more to expand their minds beyond such a small town mindset that's weaved in the roots in this small little secluded town.
Visited Riverside Park. Lovely area. The hiking path needs lots of work the railings going down the crumbling steps were broken or missing or unstable. Could use a bench along the route after all those stairs. The " bridges" were old round phone poles with broken missing railings and no footing cause they were round. Could use trash cleaned up and brush and overgrowth cleaned. Over all opinion of path is dangerous. Park area is very nice with lots of covered picnic areas.
Nice, clean pool! Only $1 admission per person and the consecessions prices are very reasonable compared to other pools in the area. The life guards keep a good eye on the everything going on at the pool and do a good job keeping everyone safe. The pool us really big and hardly ever crowded. We love going to this pool because of it's size, cleanliness, small crowds, and I feel my children are well looked after and in good hands here!
This is a super nice park with a public swimming pool. The park has a wide variety of playground equipment so there is something for kids of all ages. This park is on a high bluff with amazing views of the Neosho River. There are nice restrooms here and water fountains. Very nice place to go relax and let the kids have fun.
