About

Indoor gym (members only) with fitness classes and a pool, plus basketball and volleyball courts.

The facility features two indoor pools: the Lap Pool, which is typically maintained between 79-81 degrees Fahrenheit, and the Warm Water Pool, which is generally kept between 86-88 degrees Fahrenheit.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews for the YMCA present a mixed but generally positive picture, highlighting several strengths and a few significant areas for improvement. Many members praise the excellent staff, superior facilities, equipment, and classes, especially when compared to other local gyms. Recent renovations are noted as decent, contributing to a clean environment with the added bonus of hot water in the showers. The YMCA is also valued for its long-standing positive impact on families, offering activities like swimming and sports, with members expressing a desire to join or rejoin for personal therapy and children's lessons. However, several critical issues are raised. The locker rooms receive strong negative feedback for their poor design, including an excessive number of changing stalls that reduce space for adequately sized lockers and limit the number of urinals. Some found the locker locks inconvenient and questioned their durability, and disliked the placement of trash cans next to shelves. A very serious concern involved a member experiencing theft of their wallet, including life savings and identification, with a reported lack of follow-up or contact from the YMCA. There was also disappointment over staff changes, specifically the departure of an empathetic and understanding employee named Zachary Martin, whose absence was keenly felt. Additionally, new pool rules, particularly those restricting diving, led to membership cancellations and frustration among some long-time members.

With my stay in Missoula extended I decided that a gym membership was a good idea. Sadly, most gyms seem to be about taking money from “members” and that’s about it. That’s why I’m so very happy that I joined the Y. Staff are stupendous. The facility, equipment and classes exceed any other gyms in Missoula. Join the Y and truly be a member.

Pretty nice all around. Oddly though the locker rooms have changing stalls, as if we've regressed so much that people can't change out even when separated by gender. And the lockers are short with odd locks that seem to use some ball-and-socket instead of a latch, no doubt to eventually break and then require a new part to fix. So, there's not much space left for lockers with all the changing stalls, and then the lockers are inadequately small. The lockers wouldn't fit more than one down parka. Then, there's only one urinal. But, every shower has its own stall and then another stall on the other side of it, ostensibly to change out, again. Even the suit-spinner that dries wet garments has its own stall. So, all this space taken up by stalls, and so little left for normal locker rooms stuff like lockers and toilets, and they decide to jam the trash cans on the only small shelves next to the few lockers. So, if you put your stuff on the shelf, it's next to wear people spit and chuck their trash. One might have thought that with computers and psych meds that things would be designed better, but I guess it was better when people just drew designs by hand and limited it to coffee and cigarettes.

Zachary Martin was the best I'm disappointed you guys let him go. I've been working out at the YMCA since 2011, most of that time was creating great memories. These last few months have been some dark times thieves have given me anxiety, I'm disabled I don't have anywhere else to leave my stuff then in my backpack. Zachary would acknowledge what we are saying, understand we're going through a hard time, had empathy with Bill lacks and customers service. April 3rd my wallet with my life savings, my identification, my medical card identification was all taken and nobody contacted me. The YMCA can do better bring Zachary Martin back!

I've been a member for a few years now and canceled my membership due to new rules in the pool. Apparently they don't really want you to dive in the pools because you might drowned when holding your breath. The new renovations are decent and the staff is kind and well mannered. The place is clean now. Surprisingly they actually get hot water in the showers. I'm seriously disappointed In the policy change. I guess they would rather you go dive in a river without life guards? Turning into a bunch of litigious Californians
