What are people saying (AI review summary)? The Maz Griffin Pool receives mixed reviews, often praised for its affordability ($3 entry), nostalgic charm for long-time visitors, great staff and lifeguards, and positive atmosphere, making it a popular spot for teaching swimming and social gatherings. Many consider it one of the best pools in the county, offering amenities like life jackets for non-swimmers. However, significant concerns include its aging facilities, with non-functional showers and broken soap dispensers, suggesting neglected maintenance, especially given the ongoing delays in constructing a new facility. Patrons also express dissatisfaction with the limited operating hours, noting it opens late at noon (leading to warm water) and closes early in August, primarily catering to school schedules rather than the broader community. Despite these issues, it is still highly recommended by several users, particularly when compared to other local options.

I've been coming to this pool for decades. I'm from the area and it basically still looks the same as it did all those decades ago. While cheap only $3 the same prive they've been charging forever which I'm fine with it is starting to show its age. They are preparing to build a new facility but is seems they've dialed back on all the maintenance of the old pool. None of the showers which you need to use before entering work. At least on the men's side. You get a slight trickle of water so you can't really shower before or after entering. All the soap dispensers are broken so you can't wash your hands. Last year was supposed to be the last year before the construction and now it looks like the new pool has been pushed back another year. So next year might be the last which is fine, but if that is the case please make sure the basics still work at the very minimal. I remember back in the 90s and early 2000s this place being packed everyday and them doing night swimming, but times change and things change.
The pool doesn’t even open until noon. By that time the pool water is very warm. And I don’t understand why it’s only open for the amount of time that kids are out of school. School age kids are not the only people who enjoy a pool in the summer. But for some reason, they don’t open until kids are out of school and they close in beginning of August when kids go back to school. What about everyone else?? Can they not find anyone who is older than 17 to open the pool? Or keep it open past July? I was under the impression that this was a community pool, but it only revolves around school hours.
I love this pool it’s the best pool ever.!! And great at teaching my sister how to swim and I love for when me and my friend meet up there every other week
I love this place. They offer life jackets for non swimmers and its a great atmosphere!
One of the best pools in the county! Great staff and life guards. Highly recommended signing up for the swimming classes in the summer. If you go alot, look into a season pass! I will choose this pool any day over Bay Minette. Sure, they have some cool amenities, but the Staff is downright rude and horrible. Not to mention, they charge a fortune, and it's $3 for the Maz Griffin Pool! Highly recommend
