What are people saying (AI review summary)? The New Bern Aquatic Center is largely described as an affordable, fun, and clean family-friendly destination, particularly great for children during hot weather. Patrons appreciate the multiple swimming areas, dedicated kid section, and water slide. Lifeguards are consistently praised for being numerous, friendly, attentive, and highly responsible, contributing to a sense of safety. The small snack section is noted for good food at moderate prices. While generally positive, several recurring issues were raised: a significant lack of shade for supervising adults, leading to discomfort; unpredictable and extended water breaks (up to 30+ minutes) with poor communication from staff; and a strong, 'atrocious' sewer-like smell reported between the water slide and front pool area. Other minor concerns included roughhousing in the deeper end, potential for crowding on busy days, and unresponsiveness from management regarding suggestions for shade improvements.

New Bern Aquatic Center is the right place to visit, during the hot & humid Summer months. Kids love it ! Many parents know this & go there to relax, which they could easily do,since there's plenty of Lifeguards. The Lifeguards work extremely well together, as a friendly team. They are humble, attentive and very helpful. Lifeguards take their responsibilities very seriously, especially for the children.I clearly know, since I watch their controlled, predetermined actions. There's also a small Snack Section, with great food, moderate prices & soft cold drinks. There are break times, after the whistle, everyone must come out of the pool. Sometimes the Easter Seal has the pool until noon. The property is fenced in,keeping criminal activity outside + you could also see your vehicle through the fence. Safety, maintenance and accountability gives you the peace of mind required, check them out, ASAP ,y'll will be glad, and receive guaranteed satisfaction...
Really nice water park. Has a great kid section. And water slide. The deep end is 4f7in and there is just a lot of roughhousing so most people stay in the 3 foot zone. There are 15 min breaks every hour. But all in all it’s so cheap and lots of fun.
Very clean, staff was very friendly and answered questions. We were here on a not so busy day and it was wonderful on a busy day you may struggle to find an empty chair but it is a great family place. We did not utilize the snack bar so this review does not relate to the cafe.
It looks like a nice place with 3 different areas to swim in the pool. The price is very affordable. They have 15 min pool breaks (which means everyone out of the water) every 45 minutes. They announced a 15 min water break, then 5 mins later announced the water break was extended to 30 mins.. We are currently at 38 mins and are still not allowed in the water. The smell between the water slide and the front pool area smells ATROCIOUS like there's a sewer issue. I thinks that's what people are assuming is bad smelling water, the water smells fine like regular chlorine. Edit: they extended the water break due to threat of rain but didn't let anyone know that. We had to hear it from other pool goers who asked staff what the hold up was.
Great pool for the kids, but if you plan to stay and supervise them, be prepared to bake in the NC sun. The only shade is 3 tables with umbrellas. Since it's only open when the sun is at its peak, there is no chance for any other shade. The pergola structure could be covered to create some shade, but no one has thought of that. And don't even think about moving the lounge chairs around! I pointed this out to management last year and was assured that someone would look into it, but nothing has changed. Enjoy the heatstroke.
